Position Summary

The Grant Writer will be responsible for identifying, defining, and developing funding sources to support existing and planned program activities, as well as coordinating the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to third-party entities. The position is also responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data on the performance of program activities that are funded by third-party public and private sources.

Schedule:

 Full-time(Non-Exempt)
 Flexible, may require some evening and weekends

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  •   Maximize revenue streams such as charitable income/donations from Foundations, Charitable organizations, etc.

  •   Prepares proposals and grant applications, and performance of responsible professional and administrative work in

    researching, identifying, developing and responding to Federal, State, County, and private grant opportunities.

  •   Researches and identifies new federal government, state, county, and private funding prospects.

  •   Generates revenues for NECC programs and services through timely submission of well-researched, well written and well-documented grant/fund-raising proposals.

  •   Writes reports to government, corporate, foundations and other funders.

  •   Identifies funding opportunities and new program areas to match NECC’s priorities, using research tools.

  •   Engages with program officers at organizations to solicit invitations to submit proposals.

  •   Acts as liaison with program staff and to all funding agencies or organizations (if needed).

  1. Minimum Requirements

  2.   Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and excellent spreadsheet proficiency

  3.   Knowledge of Federal and non-Federal regulations

  4.   Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines and be able to manage multiple

    priorities.

  5.   Excellent Communication Skills

  6.   Ability to work as a team player and work independently.

  7.   Reliable transportation

  8.   Must be able to travel from facility to facility

  9.   This position requires 10 % travel with frequent travel outside the local area. Some overnight and/or interstate travel

  11. Required Education/Experience and/or Licensure/Certification

  12.   BA/BS Degree required

  13.   Five years’ experience developing & successful writing Federal, State, County, and private grant proposals

  14.   Experience in grants and contracts management, preferably in a non-profit, healthcare setting.

  15.   Experience with government grants preferred.

  16.   Must have strong organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills, such as ability to interact well with

    investigators and administrators and with federal and non-federal personnel and assist in resolving problems in a

    positive and friendly manner.

  17.   Ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance.

  18.   Excellent technical writing and editing skills.

  19.   Strong math skills and budget experience.

  20.   Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  24. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  •   OSHA Category 3 – Involves no regular exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, and tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues are not a condition of employment.

  •   The work is majority of the time sedentary in nature.

  •   The employee is regularly required to communicate, frequently required to use repetitive motions, move, remain

    stationary, regularly push, pull and lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds.

  •   Must possess mobility to work in a standard office/clinic setting (in some cases both settings) and to use standard

    office/clinic equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, read

    printed materials and use a computer, and communicate in person and over the telephone.
