Supplier Quality Engineer

TalentBridge has partnered with one of Charlotte's premier manufacturing organizations for their next Quality Engineer to focus on supplier improvements. 

  • Conduct supplier survey to evaluate supplier quality systems, technical and process capability, capacity based on companies and the customers’ quality, cost and delivery requirements.
  • Support facility supplier performance reviews and undertake actions to resolve issues. Drive supplier performance to required levels (quality, service, delivery, cost).
  • Acts as coordinator for plant supply chain to disposition all  related to suppliers.
  • Drives a culture of continuous improvement within the supply base. Actively engaged in regional Scorecard processes challenging facility and regional resources to drive lasting root cause solutions to identify and leads them through to implementation.
  • Work closely with operations and other departments for effective integration of quality goals and overall business goals.
  • Ensure completed analysis of supplier’s quality defects, reoccurring problems and leads corrective/preventive action, including 8D’s and audits.
  • Executes continuous improvement activities and works closely with suppliers’ resources to achieve improvements.
  • Compile monthly facility Supply Chain Scorecard. Lead internal scorecard review with all interested parties in the facility. Ensure improvement activities are completed on a timely basis.
  • Review and approve supplier PPAPs for engineering changes or new products. Communicate discrepancies to suppliers, and ensure timely resolution for full PPAP approval.
  • BS Engineering
  • 5 years of experience in manufacturing flow and quality system improvements (supplier related)
  • 3 or more years of experience in supplier development or supplier quality assurance
  • Computer compentency/expertise, ability to learn Southco Business and Quality Sytstems
  • Certified Quality Engineer certification preferred
  • Working knowledge of PPAP, APQP, SPC, quality systems ISO9000, including supplier audit and evaluation techniques
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Working knowledge of the use of quality improvements methodology such as SPC, Six Sigma, Poka-yoke, lean manufacturing, etc.
