CAD/Tooling Engineer

                             

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Engineer Project Advanced Programs directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of tool engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works with program coordinators to introduce new program tooling designs & processes into production that meet customer expectations. Provides the necessary process documentation to run these parts to the agreed upon process specifications in production.

Has necessary skills required to review CAD design of product, molds, tooling review construction and implement tooling using existing materials to meet or exceed production capability.

Will utilize skills and expertise to prepare Request for Quotes (RFQ) of new, modified or refurbished tooling and associated equipment.

Provides engineering feedback on new designs to insure process capability throughout plan.

Coordinates, directs and participates in the tool run process at the vendor. Insures new/refurbished tools meet process capability and meet production efficiency requirements.

Reviews process parameters and equipment parameters and performance for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, personnel safety, customer contract requirements and related specifications.

Create operator work instructions for new/refurbished equipment, tooling, and processes.

Coordinates with manufacturing all tooling process activities that are concerned with technical developments, scheduling and resolving engineering design and test problems.

Provides direct support to manufacturing for capability issues not within ability of production to resolve.

Implement cost savings ideas that have been identified as potentially feasible through cost system mold techs or through own suggestions.

Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget. Limits generation of scrap in all phases of program.

Prepares interim and completion project reports where applicable.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, scientific and/or technical journals, and technical procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, management, customers, and general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet applications. Must be familiar with internet research and the use of e-mail.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
