Project/ Business Manager, Global Polyolefins Benchmarking

This opening is in support of Phillip Townsend Associates Inc.’s (PTAI’s) Performance and Cost Metrics Benchmarking Program for Global Polyolefins.
Organizational Role:
The Polyolefins Project/ Business Manager (PBM) at PTAI drives the Global Polyolefins Benchmarking program, employing statistical analysis of performance data to develop valuable insights for our clients Operational Excellence and Business Improvement efforts. The PBM guides the priorities, design, approach and execution of competitive benchmarking programs across their manufacturing and business area.
As a key client interface, the PBM provides the operational understanding of the Key Performance Indicators necessary to successfully coordinate project activities with the client and PTAI’s Research Analyst team. The PBM works with plant managers, supply chain managers and business executives to determine specific data targets, and provides on-site training on data collection. The PBM works in conjunction with the Polyolefins Business Manager, as well as independently and collaboratively with several Research Analysts on all aspects of the benchmark analysis.
Key Activities include:

  • Detailed program oversight and participation in industry data analysis, and report generation
  • Managing client interface on study goals, data related issues and management persentations
  • Conduct client training workshops to clarify data requirements and educate clients on use of benchmarking tools to improve business performance
  • Detailed interpretation of study results from industry wide and client perspective
  • Development of client specific presentations of findings, and presentation to Client Senior and Executive Management
  • Research, prepare and present special topic, industry level, value-added reports
  • Working with PTAI staff to define program/project plans, data requirements and staffing needs
  • Identify opportunities to expand client services, enhance existing programs and launch extensions of industry related products and services
  • Travel Requirements: 20% to 30% domestic and international

Project/ Business Manager, Global Polyolefins Benchmarking

  • 12 + years of Chemical industry experience
  • While Polyolefins experience is desired, experience in other products such as, PS, Polyols, and PVC will also be considered
  • BS Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, MBA is desirable
  • Experience in Business Planning, Business Analysis or Business Development is strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of Key Performance Indicators involved with Polyolefin manufacturing, supply chain, and commercial operations
  • Good understanding of North American polyolefin industry participants. Global experience is a plus
  • Strong English written/verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Competency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of statistical approaches to data analysis
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Must have strong attention to detail in an environment of multitasking under stringent deadlines
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
