Student Health Services at the University of South Carolina is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, high-energy individual who is interested in a part-time position (~20-30 hours per week) as a cashier within our Financial Services department.
Under direct supervision of the Financial Services Manager, you will be responsible for accepting payment for medical services, providing credit card, cash and check receipts and answering customer questions via telephone and in-person in the Financial Services Department. In this role, you will perform varied clerical accounting and bookkeeping duties required for medical billing including cash posting, processing refunds, follow-up activities, administrative support, customer service and basic financial reporting. In addition, you will assist in processing accounts receivable to include batching and posting of financial data into an electronic health record. Prepare vouchers, deposits and associated reports. Assist in a variety of areas including collections, insurance claims follow-up and delinquent accounts. Assist professional staff in implementing financial procedural changes. You may be required to perform other duties as assigned, which may include but are not limited to cross training within the Financial Services Department.
Please note, this is an hourly position. As such, no benefits or paid time off will be offered.

High school diploma and 2 years of cashiering or bookkeeping experience (or equivalency).
Experience working in a healthcare environment with direct customer service responsibilities. Experience using medical office software to include electronic health records/billing system. Working knowledge of general office software applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
