Cost Accounting Manager

Base Salary Range - $85,000 - $100,000 Plus Bonus

Summary:

The Cost Accounting Manager provides accounting support to various operating groups and manufacturing plants. This support will be instrumental in maintaining accurate work-in-progress and perpetual inventory records, setting standard cost, manufacturing and material (PPV) variance reporting, assisting in analysis generation and its related accuracy. This position gathers and interprets financial information effectively and forms data into meaningful and concise analyses while considering a broad range of interdependent issues.  Identifies areas for change and makes recommendations while managing multiple demands and competing priorities.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepare, analyze and report weekly, monthly, quarterly gross margin analysis by product
  • Assist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary, analyze inventory evaluation, inventory roll forward
  • Provide Financial support, in line with company costing standards, identification and documentation of issues and supporting the creation of resolutions, as required.
  • Oversee financial reporting and control activities within manufacturing and in support of Operations.
  • Perform reconciliation and analysis of all Variable COGS line items within manufacturing with focus on accuracy and improvement opportunities
  • Develop supplementary analyses to support reporting requirements and improvement opportunities.
  • Hands-on knowledge of financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, cash flow and footnotes thereto
  • Hands-on knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (US GAAP) or International Accounting Standards (IAS) assumptions, principles and constraints (i.e. economic equity, going concern, monetary unit, periodic reporting, historical cost, revenue recognition, matching, full disclosure, cost-benefit relationship, materiality, and conservatism)
  • Working knowledge of financial concepts & principles including cash flow, NPV, IRR, ROI, Economic Profit, etc.
  • Analyze cost accounting data and assist with cycle count/physical inventories Maintain internal control documentation and test internal controls
  • Prepare detailed account analysis and reconcile sales, cost and inventory, liability accounts by customer type by division
  • Review and analyze inventory and margin reports, conduct research and perform analytical studies in regards to cost analyses and profitability
  • Work in special projects as required
  • Support and assist internal department reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules and others
  • Ensure timely submission, accuracy and validity of inventory, gross margin schedules to management

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 3 or more years of related experience
  • Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles & Cost Accounting Standards
  • Must be able to adapt to new and different computer programs and software to enable efficient data gathering and analysis
  • Ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret data Good written, verbal communication and collaborative skills Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to analyze and reconcile complex accounts and reserves Strong organizational and communicational skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Knowledge of large robust ERP systems preferred Apparel industry background preferred
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
