The Senior Software Developer is responsible for writing, editing, maintaining, and testing of software code. This position must follow software development life cycle (SDLC) to plan, design, build, test and deploy software applications including web applications, mobile applications, and ERP interfaces. This position is responsible for leading and executing initiatives that drive robust design, increased productivity, and solutions that meet business requirements in an evolving technology landscape. Additionally, the Senior Developer will support key initiatives that improve and maintain the working order and high level of security of existing software.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and implement new software programs.
  • Maintain and improve the performance and security of existing software.
  • Conducts technical reviews of proposed application development requirements and advises on feasibility, programming effort, data models, and estimate time to complete.
  • Actively Participates in cross department projects as primary development support.
  • Manage software development activities with both internal and external development partners.
  • Diagnoses software related technical problems experienced by IT staff and end users.
  • Engages projects through Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to ensure all requirements, design standards, testing, and documentation have been met.
  • Engage with other development team members on development methods, concepts, and standards in order to aligned code editing standards and quality application design and development.
  • Develop interface solutions that use best practice API’s or custom software that meet approved communication protocols and security requirements.
  • Ability to debug new and existing software in order to determine root cause analysis and correction to problematic code.
  • Maintain and deploy code within code repository by following all change management procedures.
  • Provides end-user software training and support.
  • Mentors and coaches IT staff on application development standards and best practices.


Required Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with an information technology emphasis.
  • 5+ years of experience in application design or development.
  • Experience with object-oriented programming and application development languages, frameworks and toolkits such as Microsoft .NET, C#, C++, C, Objective-C, Swift, SQL, Java, JavaScript, PHP, Ruby, Rust, Qt, HTML5, Chef, and Python.
  • Experience with API integration within modern IT architecture within on-prem, Hybrid, and cloud infrastructures.
  • Have knowledge and experience within Cloud framework environment such as Azure, AWS, Google Cloud and have a good understanding of code repository management practices and systems such as Git, VSTS, Jira and/or Microsoft Team Foundation Server/Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with the development of web applications to include Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and RESTful Services
  • Proven ability to self-learn by researching, enrollment in continued education, and deploying new development technologies within the technical frameworks of IT.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning software (ERP)
  • Maintain a strong understanding of applications architecture to include hardware, software/utilities, database design, security, communications protocols.
  • Have a strong understanding of application development using various SDLC methodologies such as Waterfall, Agile, SCRUM, Rapid Application Development (RAD), and/or DevOps.
  • Be familiar and have experience within Project Management Organizations (PMO).
  • Knowledge and experience with ITIL practices.
  • Have strong knowledge of database modeling and principles.
  • Be well organized, creative, and detail oriented.
  • Be assertive, flexible, demonstrate initiative and sound judgment.
  • Be able to work well within a team environment and be a positive influence on his/her user community.
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Have excellent decision-making skills.
  • Maintain indefinite confidentiality with all sensitive information that he/she has privilege to during support activities.
