Our Direct Client is looking for a Process Engineer.

Houston, TX 77061

This is a PERM FULL TIME position with benefits.


The candidates SHOULD BE In United States of America.   (Preferably local to Houston, TX).

This is a hands-on position that requires an experienced process engineer with supervisory experience in chemical processing, or paint manufacturing batch processing plants; preferably in a small team environment. The person must be comfortable with the daily challenges of supervising and working with operators and solving problems in a timely and efficient manner. The process engineer is also responsible for and will perform QC activities including batch-in- process testing and raw materials testing for conformance to specifications. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1. Supervise batch makers & operators.
2. Ensure that every batch is made 100% to specification and that all processing equipment is functioning properly to ensure safety and product quality.
3. At times, perform the work of the primary batch maker including all associated duties; raw materials staging, preparation of the batch, all batch and materials processing functions, bulk materials transfer, milling operations, filling, clean-up and documentation.
4. Train operators in batch processing, and safe operating practices.
5. Update processing and equipment PFIDs as necessary.
6. This is a one-shift operation with normal work hours of 0700 to 1530, however on batch days, operations start at 0600 and usually end at 1530 hours.
7. Complete batch ticket documentation and enter work orders and raw materials consumption in to the business operating system. Enter and maintain required manufacturing, raw materials and quality information in Excel spreadsheets.
8. Support the inventory control and shipping and receiving system and complete the duties when necessary.
9. Test incoming raw materials, in-process and final batch testing to ensure compliance to specifications.
10. Support bulk materials off-loading as required.
11. Assist the maintenance and facilities manager with facilities, equipment operation and maintenance activities.
12. Recommend improvements for manufacturing processes, equipment use and layout, to support capital investment and continuous improvement.
13. Lead the site wide 5S program and employee training; processing procedures, EH&S and OSHA requirements.
14. Manage the hazardous waste program.
15. Keep manufacturing process documentation up to date.
16. Communicate effectively and efficiently with all levels of the organization; oral and written.
17. Demonstrated willingness to do any job required at any time and be a strong team player and leader.
18. Understand and support planning and scheduling activities.
19. Assist with shipping and receiving and associated inventory control duties.
20. Assist with equipment installation and project support.
21. Responsibly manage the facility in the absence of the Director of Operations.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, chemistry or a related field

5 years' work experience in batch processing chemical operations or solvent based paints/coatings manufacturing industry working

Supervisory experience

Demonstrated excellent communications skills, interpersonal skills, mechanical aptitude and fluent in English; written and verbal.

Must demonstrate a positive attitude under stressful conditions, be both a team player and an individual contributor with the ability and desire to adjust to rapidly changing priorities.

Working knowledge of high pressure steam and boiler operations, experience batch processing, pressurized systems including vessels, pump operations, blending, mixing, filtration, fluid flow, heat transfer and heat exchangers.

Must be physically fit and able to climb 20-foot vertical ladders, work on catwalks 20 and 40 feet above ground. Must be able to wear required PPE.
