Inventory Control Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position will assist with Inventory management within the warehouse.  The Inventory Control Specialist will perform cycle counts within all areas of the warehouse as well as compile and report all findings to the management team.  S/he will be responsible for maintaining acceptable and accurate inventory levels.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinate a cycle count program in a perpetual inventory environment
  2. Manage item slotting, e.g., assign pick slots for new items, seasonal adjustments and Limited Time Offers
  3. Monitor inventory aging; maintain a record of all disposals
  4. Coordinate the efforts of the cycle counts in an effort to identify and correct discrepancies on items at the location level as needed
  5. Prepare reports using Retalix & EXCEL and present findings to Management
  6. Work with key personnel to effectively implement process improvements to operational procedures in an effort to proactively optimize overall location and item level accuracy and maintain the highest possible productivity levels
  7. Maintain strong inter-departmental relationships with key members of Purchasing, Finance, Receiving and Selecting Departments
  8. Maintain visual factory, e.g., the placement and rotation of Voxware check digits
  9. Provide as needed troubleshooting, analysis and recommendations on inventory systems hardware (RF scanners, mobile hand held computer/scanners, vehicle mounted data terminals)
  10. Participate in project teams as needed
  11. Act as team leader during annual full physical inventory count
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Basic leadership skills with the willingness to learn, improve and adapt
  • APICS certification
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft office
  • Proficiency in mathematics
  • Proficiency with a Warehouse Management System (WMS), Retalix preferred
  • Must be knowledgeable in Lean Logistics concepts

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • A minimum of 4 years in an inventory/materials role
  • Forklift experience required
  • Experienced in using an RF gun preferred
