Job Summary: 

****Contract Position Temporary****

The Benefits Coordinator provides general support to the Benefits Department for the administration of health/welfare plans and the 401(k) Plan.  This position assists employees with second level benefit questions as referred by the company’s third party administrators.  Generates reports from internal and external databases and researches coverage issues and processes weekly and monthly invoices.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: 

  • Manages cases and calls from active, terminated and retired employees.

  • Works with external vendors to problem solve and trouble shoot.

  • Ensures new employee data is received by benefits administrator and coverage eligibility and registration has been completed.

  • Responds to employee information requests from third party benefits and 401(k)administrators. 

  • Provides coverage reports for internal use by Human Resources, Payroll and trust benefits.

  • Instructs employees on basic benefit plan coverages.

  • Tracks employee retirement eligibility and processes information for 3rd party coverage.

  • Prepares and processes invoices for payment

  • Manages incoming mail; processes, files or forwards accordingly

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Strong customer service/communication (written and verbal) skills

  • Ability to work efficiently, independently

  • Effective time management/prioritization skills

  • Attention to detail, following through on projects and handling multiple tasks

  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and

Education:  Four-year college degree or equivalent knowledge gained through formal education, specialized training, or additional job experience

Experience:   One year of directly related experience

Other: Maintain timely and regular attendance. Must be able to work overtime, when needed.
