Job Description


Handles wholesale customer orders that are received via fax, postal system, e-mail and phone and EDI.   Processes orders within time constraints to ensure efficient flow of orders through computer system and into warehouse for twenty four (24) hour turnaround of order to ship. Research location of available inventory and schedule orders from appropriate Distribution facility. Research and rectify problems for customers, brokers and Sales group. Introduce new items and Seasonal items to customers via phone.   Assist potential new customers with company and product information and send and gather required account set up documents.  Research and resolve order item/shipment issues.  


COMPENSATION This position pays within a range of $16-$17 per hour, based on experience, as a FLSA non-exempt hourly employee, paid weekly.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Reads and translates purchase orders.


Work as a team with co-workers to input a large volume of orders into computer system while maintaining deadlines to ensure on time shipment. 


Inputs information into computer system.


Communicates with customers and brokers on a daily basis.


Participates in department preparation for physical inventory (Fiscal year end system clean up)  


Provides support for sales staff.


Executes order functions including report generation and preparation of bank card settlement (specific assignment).


Files claims and issue traces for loss and damages to product.  (specific assignment)


Perform departmental projects such as new product allocation for specific groups of customers for priority shipping. 


Participate in organized departmental project for product recalls when necessary. 


Inherent in each position is a general duty to maintain each respective work area in a safe and sanitary condition.  Regular, predictable, full-time attendance is required as an essential function of this position. 


The employee may be required to perform other such duties within the scope of their employment as may be assigned.  The employee must also possess the ability to take direction, follow instructions, work with others, follow work rules and schedules, and focus on details.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE  High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  An equivalency of education could possibly fulfill formal degree requirements.


LANGUAGE SKILLS  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to clearly communicate with customers, brokers, sales personnel and co-workers in a clear, professional, friendly manner.   Ability to control stress and keep a positive attitude. 


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.



To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.


REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation as well as being flexible and working out solutions that best suit the company and the customer.
