Our client is a large, heavy manufacturer who has a who has deep ties to the local Bowling Green, Kentucky area but also has a global footprint with locations throughout the USA and world. The Bowling Green facility has been enjoying continued and sustained growth and has recently expanded their operations spanning from physical building size to growing their local work force! Due to this growth, they are currently recruiting for numerous roles that will help support their increased production volume and to help ensure a great work life balance to its employees by ensuring that the team is not spread too thin.


This role of a Logistics Engineer has been established to help realize the most optimum way for materials to be moved around the plant to increase productivity, product quality and to reduce cycle times. Our client has already begun tackling projects to move plant machinery to make sure that process flow is optimal and now the next steps for the logistics team is to engage in continuous improvement activities to figure out how to get materials staged and moved to production lines in a way that will allow for maximum effectiveness. In this role you will do everything from researching best automated or manned tugger machines to figuring out how to load a pallet or cart in such a way that will help the production associates do their job more quickly and easily and bolster their ability to be successful in their duties.


- Must have a Bachelors degree or greater in Engineering or related field

- Must have some experience in Mechanical Engineering or similar field

- Must have prior Engineering project experience

- Previous experience in SAP is preferred

- Must have prior experience with continuous improvement initiatives or projects

- Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder, sponsorship is not available at this time

1.    Manages the flow of material from suppliers to production for all operations of the Bowling Green site.

2.    Partners with Materials and Operations to develop and implement solutions for optimizing material presentation to maximize flow through the plant and line productivity.

3.    Drives implementation of standard containerization throughout all operations.

4.    Researches and Benchmarks best practices in industry related to logistics and material flow.

5.    Ensures Bowling Green site inventory accuracy and cycle count program complies with corporate policies including tracking and reporting duties.

6.    Oversees onsite third party logistics personnel and facilitates transportation projects and changes implemented via third party logistics provider for the Bowling Green site.

7.    Drives operations to ensure safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and budget goals are achieved.

8.    Evaluates logistics constraints and implements Lean Manufacturing techniques to improve capacities.

9.    Works closely with Manufacturing Engineering to define and implement cost-effective continuous improvement projects.

10. Promotes and drives the organization’s vision and utilization of Knorr Production System (Lean Manufacturing) methodologies.

11. Champions change and facilitates team related functions to improve the business performance.

12. Uses problem solving methods and innovation to drive continuous improvement.

13. Understands and adhere to current health, safety, and environmental policies (ISO14001). Is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action in regards to safety, health, and environmental concerns.

14. Understands current quality policies and procedures (IATF 16949). Is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action in regards to product quality.

15. Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
