Job Description

The Sterile Processing Surgical Technologist processes surgical and procedural instrumentation according to regulatory standards and appropriate internal standards. This role provides efficient and customer focused service to all Health System team members, leadership and medical staff and to patients/visitors.

  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
  • Decontaminates, assembles and sterilizes instrumentation according to national guidelines and internal standards.
  • Operates departmental equipment within appropriate guidelines/policies/procedures.
  • Demonstrates high levels of quality control by following departmental policies/procedures and thorough documentation of sterilization process.
  • Effectively prioritizes and communicates customer needs within the department and with customers.
  • Assists in maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Functions as a preceptor for new employees when assigned.
  • Understands and identifies instrumentation and equipment utilized in all customer areas.
  • Performs other assigned duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager related to Sterile Processing.

Job Requirements


  • Surgical Technologist degree.
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technologist may be substituted for the professional education requirement 
  • CRCST (Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician) Certification required within 12 months of hire.


  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Sterile Processing preferred. 
  • CRCST (Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician) Certified
