H&R Block, the world’s leader in tax preparation services, is looking for a Licensing Specialist for our Tax Training School team. This position is located at our corporate headquarters, in the premier downtown Power & Light District of Kansas City, where everything is either steps or a streetcar ride away. Our office offers an onsite fitness gym and coffee shop, an awesome company cafeteria, free parking, and frequent opportunities to get discounted or free tickets to a variety of entertainment venues and shows. 
 
In this role you will process all Tax School Licensing and document retention requests.  You will ensure proper handling of student and instructor records in a timely fashion to meet specific State deadlines as laid out by the State Departments of Higher Education.  You will regularly communicate with State entities as well as H&R Block Leadership regarding status updates and any potential issues that arise.  

What you’ll do…

  • Use internal computer systems to  facilitate compliance for  school licensing requirements to maintain H&R Block’s good standing.
  • Communicate via phone, mail, and email. Interpret clients' and business partner’s needs and utilize software programs to identify possible resolutions for issues.
  • Correspond directly with H&R Block leadership and State entities including Departments of Higher Education.
  • Follow established procedures to resolve issues regarding  School Licensing. Use software programs and computer systems to accurately document, research, and resolve issues.
  •  Participate in meetings related to the effective and efficient performance of job duties.
  • Identify issues with current process and notify management of potential concerns and potential solutions.
  • Audit internal documents and processes to ascertain compliance.
  • Convey required information and data, including sensitive information, to State entities.
  • Advocate on behalf of H&R Block with State Entities for resolutions to issues that may arise.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you’ll bring to the role…

  • These skills are acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Analytical and detail oriented.
  • Ability to do repetitive tasks and remain focused.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and calmly on the telephone and to use effective customer service techniques with clients who may be under stress.
  • Ability to effectively work under strict deadlines while simultaneously organizing multiple projects.
  • Ability to maintain composure under stressful situations.
  • Experience with Windows operating system.
  • Good 10-key, data entry, and keyboarding ability.

It would be even better if you also had…

  • Six months experience in a customer service position.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or related field
  • Six months experience with basic office procedures.
  • Additional coursework in accounting or business-related studies.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Tax Office or Tax Training School experience.
  • Spanish/English bilingual capabilities.
  • Familiar with state law and procedures.
  • Ability to decipher legal jargon to identify impactful statements within state legislation.
