Job Description

Title: CAD Engineer

Location: Greer, SC

Reports to: Engineering Group Manager

Industry: automotive parts manufacturing

Duration of contract: 6 month contract-to-direct

Status of hire: full-time, exempt / salaried

Pay: $28-32/hr depending on experience


  • Constructs parts and products using CAD software, in accordance with customer specifications

  • Manages CAD files, and exchanges with suppliers and customers

  • Maintains/updates 3D/2D data

  • Designs and draws technical solutions (sketches, sections, partial models, global models, overall dimensions, tooling/assembly kinematics)

  • Generates the CAD files in accordance with CAD methodology and CAD specifications of both internal and external customers

  • Verifies CAD file quality by utilizing specific customer file checkers used by customer tools to check CAD file quality

  • Updates parts attributes in PDM (volume, theoretical weight, projected area, etc.)

  • Updates models based on technical feasibility studies.

  • Performs various checks on his 3D models to ensure good quality of the final product

  • Works closely with project managers, design leaders, and extended teams (tooling engineers, engineering analysis, moldflow engineers, etc.)

  • Participates in integrating new CAD Engineers

Job Requirements


  • Must have CATIA experience; able to lead 2D and 3D design activities

  • Must have good understanding of plastic injection molding process

  • Must have understanding of GD&T, form fit function, basic mechanical design rules and can build and check product under CAD software system

  • Must 0-2 years of automotive plastic part design experience (minimum internship, co-op experience)

  • Must have Bachelor’s Degree in engineering plus relevant 0-2 years of experience (0 years = internship or co-op experience)

*Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check to be eligible for hire
