We are currently seeking a full-time associate (or the right part-time associate) to join our qualified team of professionals. Candidate should enjoy challenging work, have the desire to learn and grow with our firm, and the ability to think critically and see the big picture. We will consider applicants with varying levels of experience (the right entry level candidate would be considered), previous public accounting experience is preferred.

Ullmann & Company, P.C. is a well-rounded, local public accounting firm located in the Biltmore area of Phoenix that has served the Valley for over 25 years. Our staff members enjoy a better work-life balance than at many public accounting firms due to the firm’s focus on complex and specialized industry work that provides a more balanced workflow throughout the year. We specialize in consulting and structuring complex transactions and also perform financial reporting services from compilations to audits. We serve closely held businesses in many industries including service, medical, professional, manufacturing, and retail. We provide specialty services to privately-held public utilities (water and sewer) and also assist clients with international concerns relating to U.S. tax compliance. Remote work would be considered depending on candidate’s need and experience level.

Requirements

  • Ability to think critically and see the big picture
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with other professional staff to gather, prepare, and present work product
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage deadlines
  • Exhibit a professional business demeanor (in appearance and written/oral communications)
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Education and experience - you may have many or all of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field (or near completion)
  • Working towards or has obtained CPA certificate
  • Public accounting experience preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks and Lacerte a plus

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of individual, corporate, partnership, and other income, employment, and state and local tax filings; develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of federal and state tax laws, regulations and current tax developments
  • Prepare responses to tax notices and IRS information requests; conduct research of tax planning and compliance matters; draft correspondence and summarize conclusions for presentation to clients and concurring team members
  • Preparation of GAAP, cash, and income tax basis financial statements
  • Perform analytical review and testing of documents to support reviews and audits of financial statements
  • Review basic client accounting and operating procedures to provide recommendations
  • Perform some limited basic bookkeeping services
  • Prepare all work in compliance with firm’s policies and procedures
