El Camino College is seeking a full-time, tenure-track faculty member to join its Automotive Technology team to teach all aspects of the automotive industry which include but are not limited to: general automotive, engine performance, engine repair, manual and automatic transmission, steering and suspension, brakes, air conditioning, automotive electrical/electronics, and alternative fuels. Candidate must possess current ASE Master Certification (A1 through A8), and G1. Some assignments may include evening, weekend hours, and/or dual enrollment courses offered offsite on high school campuses.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree and five (5) years full-time or full-time equivalent experience in the discipline; OR

Any Associate's degree and six (6) years full-time or full-time equivalent experience in the discipline; OR

The equivalent - Candidates not possessing the required qualification(s) as stated on this announcement must complete the Request For Equivalency Form as part of the application process to explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above; OR

Valid California community college instructor credential in appropriate subject issued prior to July 1, 1990 (per California Education Code 87355); AND

Maintain ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification and complete a minimum of 20 hours of automotive technical update training per year; AND

A teaching demonstration will be required of candidates selected for an interview.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Teaching or experience training in a professional setting in an ASE Education Foundation accredited program.

ASE L1 certification.

Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in teams.

Knowledge, experience, certification, or licensing in Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Repairs, Bureau of Automotive Smog, or manufacturer specific certification/training (example: GM ASEP; Toyota T-TEN; Tesla Start; Ford ACE).

Community College teaching experience.

Ability to plan and prioritize work requirements and demonstrate independent decision-making.

Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with experience in the use of computer technology and other instructional technologies to facilitate high quality instruction.

Experience using an online learning management system, such as CANVAS.

Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the racial, socio-economic, academic, and cultural diversity within student populations, including students with disabilities, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices.

SALARY

The starting salary ranges from $69,194 - $92,449 depending on education and experience.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Contract shall be for a full-time tenure-track teaching assignment for the 2023 - 2024 academic year, beginning in August. El Camino faculty may complete the Online Learning & Teaching Canvas (OLTC) course or provide sufficient evidence that they are prepared to develop and teach quality online courses through our waiver process.

Applicants should demonstrate experience examining and remediating their instruction, interactions, and/or practices to more effectively engage and support diverse students.

The position requires development/review of curriculum and assessment of learning outcomes to improve teaching and learning in achieving El Camino College's mission of institutional effectiveness, quality educational programs, and vibrant student support services.
