Contingent Project Manager

Location: SANDY SPRINGS GA 30328

Duration: 06 Months

Hours:  8:00am to 5:00pm          

 

Job Summary

  • Requires a moderate degree of PM knowledge, experience, skill & expertise.Addl.
  • skills needed: comm, problem solving, managing for results, managing conflict, creativity & critical thinking.Operates in coordination with & takes direction from both the ePMO Lead/Proj Lead to ensure:
  • All proj activities/outputs align with strategic objectives, deliverables, schedules, business case & expectations set with Sponsors & UPS senior leadership
  • Support a combination of simple projs while facilitating/guiding team to adhere to the PM discipline
  • This position will drive setting the team’s cadence for planning, updates & status reviews with Sponsors.He/she supports the success of the proj by applying UPS PM principles, guidelines & standards.Travel may be required as needed.

 

Job Duties

  • Assists Proj Lead to Ensure Proj Output Meets Program Expectations (~ 15% of time)
  • Facilitates all Proj Planning & Execution of PM Activities (~ 25% of time)
  • Applies PM Processes/Tools Appropriate for Projs (~ 50% of time)
  • dentifies/Manages Interdependencies with other Projs/Initiatives (~ 10% of time)

 

Other Duties

  • Manages proj scope, schedule, initiation, start-up/design, building & deployment of projs from beginning to end
  • Creates/manages PM artifacts while educating the team on their creation/proper use throughout the proj such as:
  • Project Charter
  • Project Plan
  • RACI
  • Risk/Issue identification & mitigation
  • Status report dev./updates appropriate PM artifacts, as needed
  • Reviews deliverables & ensures quality
  • Provides PM methodology/tools to ensure proper governance, oversight, strategic alignment & proj success
  • Facilitates initiation/planning of proj scope (i.e. Objectives, resources, milestones, risks, comms, etc)
  • Reviews funding, cost plans & actual expenses to verify projs are in line with funding parameters with Project Lead
  • Proficient in PM discipline with emphasis on effective use of PM soft skills essential to his/her success
  • Solicits/gathers info. via interviews with process owners to understand the "as-is" &" to-be" processes
  • Identifies/communicates to the Project Lead skill gaps & recommends improvement opportunities
  • Provides Project Lead with thorough responses to problem resolution
  • Identifies business areas/stakeholders impacted by issues
  • Identifies root causes to ensure problems do not reoccur

 

Able to:

Communicate processes to customers trained on process changes/enhancements

Dev/monitor process metrics to gauge health of a proj & identify process improvement opportunities

Observe a process & gather feedback/concerns from others for process improvement opportunities

 

Required Qualifications

Experience applying Stakeholder/Comm Mgmt. principles including governing bodies/ Owners/Sponsors/key senior stakeholders/Project Lead/team/SME's

Able to plan weeks in advance to plan efforts & manage multiple projs

Able to work full time (~40 hours per week with potential to work overtime if necessary); must be flexible to work occasional weekends, holidays & possible overnight stays depending on the assignment, as needed.

Experience/expertise with Commercial PM Software (i.e. MS Project/Office, etc) & the ability to learn UPS Projects Website & other tools

Experience with web-based remote meeting applications (i.e. Skype, Zoom, WebEx, etc)

Willing to travel by plane or driving personal vehicle or rental car. [Note: mileage, airfare, rental car will be reimbursed]

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or int’l comparable degree)
  • 3 years of PM experience
  • 6 years as a proj team member
  • Experience using MS Office including MS Project/SharePoint
  • Willing to travel by plane or drive personal vehicle/rental car

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • PM Certifications: PMI PMP, Agile, LEAN Certified/Six Sigma, etc     

Additional details:

The Payroll Liaison will be responsible to not only execute on the following but document the process and train other employees to successfully transfer responsibility. UPSAS/PTRS/Time & Labor System and Miscellaneous Items

1.         Create/Add new users

2. Set up new hires

3.         Transfer employees

4.         Verify expense and updating of employee profile

5. Verify sort = correct state tax

6.         Reset passwords

7.         Submitting adjustments

8.         SOD auditor for Time & Labor system

9.         Submit Jury Duty payment information for management employees

10.       Creation of new centers in Payroll/Oracle

11.       Change building codes for existing centers

12.       Change expense mapping for centers

.           Send mapping changes to Payroll/GLADMIN
