Purpose: The primary responsibility of the Fixed Asset Senior Accountant is to, along with the Fixed Asset Accountant, maintain the fixed asset subledgers for book and tax purposes for the entire organization. The includes reviewing the requests from each of the operating companies to ensure the proper authorizations and documentation are obtained for acquisitions, disposals, and transfers.
The Fixed Asset Senior Accountant performs various functions in ensuring effective maintenance of an organization’s fixed assets and depreciation schedules and ensures that all operating companies are following the organization’s fixed asset policy.
Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Manage fixed assets by creating and supervising a system of procedures, forms, and controls.
Recommend any updates to accounting policies affecting fixed assets to management.
Properly record newly acquired fixed assets, disposals, and intercompany transfers in the fixed asset system.
Ensure that assets are depreciated according to company policy and provide reports and journal entries to operating companies on a monthly basis.
Ensure that assets are depreciated properly for tax purposes according to tax law and company policy and provide tax reports to corporate tax team for tax provision and tax return purposes.
Review the work performed by the fixed asset accountant.
Work with operating companies to ensure costs are properly tracked and placed in service at the completion of a given project.
Review the reconciliation of the fixed asset subsidiary ledgers and the fixed asset rollforwards from the various operating companies at least quarterly.
Perform revision and update on the detailed schedule of accumulated depreciation and fixed assets
Maintain database for lease agreements and determine the accounting implications of all leases
Coordinate and/or supervise physical inventory counts of fixed assets
Perform fixed asset related analyses as may be requested by management
Create and/or review fixed asset related audit schedules, and collaborate with operating companies to address audit requests
Serve as company representative at any audits relating to fixed assets facilitated by a government agency
Track Company’s fixed asset spending in relation to its capital budget, as well as management authorizations.
Assist with the implementation of new fixed asset system.

Possess Bachelor’s degree in accounting
Prefer experience leading or working in a corporate fixed asset department and/or capacity
Minimum 4-6 years of experience
Possess strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Strong knowledge and experience of fixed assets and General Ledger
Possess strong proficiency in Excel
Strong ability to work with multiple accounting and reporting systems
Strong communication and analytical skills
Strong ability to work individually or in a team setting
Excellent interpersonal and time management skills to meet time-sensitive deadlines
Strong ability to give attention to detail and to perform multiple tasks at the same time

Works in well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
Some travel may be required to help coordinate physical inventories at the various operating companies.
