Job Description:

A non-profit organization seeks innovative and experienced candidates to fill a Museum Director position for a full time, permanent opportunity. The Museum Director provides ongoing leadership and vision to the Museum by setting the operational and cultural tone, coordinates with directors on long-term planning and direction, serves as the Museum representative in media, fundraising and community settings, and oversees the management of all Museum operations. The Alpha Group’s client is now accepting resumes from candidates within the local Massachusetts area or out of state.

Responsibilities of the Museum Director:

  • Build and maintain relationships with a variety of constituencies
  • Increase both local and regional awareness of the unique mission and programming offered by the Museum
  • Ensure ongoing excellence in a full schedule of exhibitions and programs, with program evaluation and recommendations, based on strategic goals
  • Research, design, and implement engaging programs utilizing existing and new exhibits
  • Develop, implement, and track annual business plans and budgets
  • Supervise and collaborate with museum staff so that the facility and programs operate successfully and in line with the organization mission
  • Support fundraising efforts
  • Thrive in a team environment and demonstrates qualities of humble, hungry and smart

Qualifications of the Museum Director:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 3 years of responsible senior management experience
  • Minimum of 3 years non-profit leadership experience
  • Ability to engage and motivate stakeholders, staff and volunteers
  • Experience in general administration, museum collection management, and program planning
  • Proficiency in website, social media, Google suite, and MS Office 2016
  • Experience with digital exhibits a plus
  • Ability to relate to a diverse range of people and exercise cultural competence and sensitivity
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Interest in History, Roman Catholic life, digital displays and religious art
