Design Engineer

Our client designs and develops temperature sensing, controlling, and heating electronics as well as flexible circuits for a wide variety of applications from aerospace and defense, medical devices and much more. In this role, you will be responsible for performing complex applications engineering tasks and supporting sales and marketing by developing strong relationships with customers for their flex circuit products. This is a direct, full-time opportunity in the North Twin Cities area.


Responsibilities:

  • Build Engineer-to-Engineer relationships with customers and support sales and marketing efforts by pursuing new business opportunities
  • Act as primary technical contact and maintain strong customer relationships, including some travel to customer sites (up to 25% during peak periods)
  • Educate customers and be a resource for them by participating in customer design reviews, presenting at seminars, lunch and learns, industry events, publishing articles in trade magazines, and webinars
  • Validate technical road maps and anticipate customer’s future product needs
  • Support new product introduction process; participating in technical discussions with customers, completing requirements matrices, managing the design history file, creating quotations, proposals, drawings, and setting up new models for manufacture
  • Lead complex teams regarding draft concepts, technical documentation, product application, testing, standards and other product development areas
  • Mentor and train other engineers in our customers’ industries application procedures, technology and material function

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar technical discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a process, design or applications engineering role in a flex circuit manufacturing environment
  • Experience with new product introduction
  • Knowledge and use of design for manufacturability and FMEA methods
  • Strong project management and presentation skills when interacting with customers
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time during peak periods, typically 10-15% of the time
