We are hiring for a Pharmacy Technician at the Oak Harbor, WA.
Education: Graduate from a formal pharmacy technician program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) or a formal pharmacy technician program (i.e., technical, hospital, or retail-based program) or a formal medical services training program of the United States Military.
Certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
Basic Life Support (BLS) hands on course through American Heart Association.
Experience: A minimum of 12 months of full-time experience within the last 36 months as a pharmacy technician.
U.S. Citizenship: HCWs performing under this contract shall be U.S. citizens.
English Language Requirement: The Contractor shall ensure that all HCWs providing services under this contract are able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate.
HCW Physical Capability: HCWs shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract.
The HCW shall provide services within the scope of their competencies, the applicable duties provided in the basic contract, and the following:
Interpret inpatient and outpatient prescription orders and perform steps to correctly enter prescription data into the pharmacy computer system, fill the requested medication, and dispense the prescription.
Review and prepare pharmacy orders for intravenous additive solutions, using sterile technique and maintaining infection control procedures; review the patient’s medication profile, enter new drug orders, prepare labels, assemble the necessary ingredients, and label the completed product.
Maintain and maximize the Unit Dose Drug Distribution System; collect and prepare medications to be loaded into the automated inpatient medication management system from medication inventory orders; prepare medications into Unit-Dose/Unit-of-Use packaging to be verified by a pharmacist.
Prepare and distribute Sterile IV Products that have been verified by a pharmacist.
Repackage bulk medications into smaller containers of predetermined size of unit dose packaging; maintain an adequate level of pre-packs, operate and maintain pre-packing equipment.
Respond to pharmacy questions concerning the administration and use of a medication as prescribed by the patient’s provider, availability of medications, and unit of use, from clinic staff and/or patients to ensure correct use in a tactful and helpful manner.
Advise supply personnel of any shortages of medications or supplies and inform the supply section of any unusual use or large quantities of drugs that are being dispensed; maintain storage of medications and supplies according to good pharmacy practices, including checking for, and removing, outdated, or deteriorated supplies.
Accurately maintain the required records and accountability documents reflecting the issuance and receipt of controlled substances and immediately report to the designated pharmacist on duty any discrepancies or unusual requests.
Utilize pharmacy computer and robotic systems in accordance with MTF protocols.
Perform a full range of pharmacy technician procedures.
Perform pharmaceutical dispensing duties including filling new outpatient prescriptions, refilling prescriptions, and entering orders into databases.
Perform information consultation duties including supporting new and refill prescriptions, supporting patient requests, supporting physician’s requests, monitoring for drug interactions, and reporting adverse drug reactions.
Perform quality improvement duties including performing drug storage inspection, reviewing expired supplies, and producing error and workload reports and documentation.
Perform supply process duties including placing new orders, stocking/restocking shelves, inventory maintenance, producing not in stock reports.
Services shall be provided Monday through Friday, between the hours of 0700 and 2000, Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays between the hours of 0700 – 1800.
Shifts will normally be scheduled for an 8.5 to 9 hour period, to include an uncompensated 30 to 60 minute lunch break, respectively.
In no instance will the HCW be required to provide regular services in excess of 80 hours per two-week period.
