Director of Operations
Summary
Qualified candidates will provide leadership to all Operations functions: Manufacturing, Planning, Supply Chain, and Maintenance for all North American Facilities (Wallingford, CT; Mesa, AZ; West Palm Beach, FL; and Nogales, Mexico). This position is member of the Executive Management Team and is responsible for establishing an operation that will support a model of customer service, on time delivery, unquestioned product quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee Assembly Manufacturing, Materials/Planning and Supply Chain
- Direct reports include: site Operations Managers, Purchasing Manager and Global Materials Manager
- Develop a strong and effective Operations team. Provide positive and objective coaching/mentorship of team members
- Implement an optimal organizational structure to grow and support the business
- Focus on results: drive the team to achieve OTD, Quality and financial metrics including revenue and profitability targets
- Strive for superior customer service (on-time delivery and responsiveness)
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement through: rigorous root cause analysis, improvement initiatives and the application of Lean tools and techniques
- Plan and recommend necessary resources to ensure success, including capital equipment, team members, appropriate facilities, effective infrastructure and materials
- Promote environmental, health and safety philosophies and processes that reduce workplace injuries
- Emphasize and reinforce TMS Core Values, EHS/Quality policies and Safety procedures
- Participate in establishing Operations goals and objectives and monitor progress
Job Requirements
- Minimum 10 years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment with responsibility for growing a customer-focused business
- Bachelor’s Degree; Business or Engineering strongly preferred
- MBA preferred
- Experience managing a multi-site, global operation
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, teach, train and motivate others
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high growth industry; willing to be hands-on and take initiative
- Excellent project management and problem-solving skills
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing
- Excellent computer skills, proficient in MS Office Suite
- Solid communication skills
- Strong orientation towards customer focus and teamwork
- Travel up to 50% required
