Electrical Engineer

Summary:

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of electrical systems and/or components to customer and internal specifications, focusing on economy, safety, reliability, quality, as well as sustainability. The engineer will be involved in projects from the concept and detail design through implementation, testing, and selloff to the customer. The engineer will work in a multi-disciplinary project team, including engineers from other disciplines, as well as marketing and sales staff, manufacturing personnel, technicians, and customer service personnel and will possess the technical knowledge as well as the ability to manage projects and multitask. Additional attributes, such as team leadership skills and commercial awareness, are required for career progression. The ideal candidate will demonstrate competency in decision-making, flexibility, planning and organizing, initiative, and interpersonal skills.

 

Duties / Responsibilities:

Ø  Identify customer requirements, design electrical systems and products and develop design specifications and technical drawings

Ø  Specify components, wire and connector sizing, and interfaces; generate electrical schematics and drawings

Ø  Process Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) – electrical

Ø  Create bills of materials

Ø  Validate schematics and circuit diagrams

Ø  Research suitable solutions while estimating costs & schedule

Ø  Create models and/or prototypes of products

Ø  Work with others on the design, product management, and production teams

Ø  Work with clients and contractors

Ø  Design test plans and conduct tests

Ø  Record, analyze, and interpret test data

Ø  Propose modifications and retesting products as required for product compliance to specifications

Ø  Qualify the final product and/or system

Ø  Adhere to Quality Management processes and policies

Ø  Service and maintain equipment as necessary

Ø  Prepare product documentation, write reports, and give presentations for design and other engineering reviews and meetings

Ø  Ability to resolve process problems and provide recommendations to improve processes.

Ø  Monitor products in use so as to improve on future design

Ø  Experience in electro/mechanical system design

Ø  Experience with soldering, crimping, MIL spec connectors and harness design

Ø  Experience with Networking systems including wireless, Ethernet, serial communications

Ø  Experience with generators, chargers, battery systems

Ø  Working with the National Electrical Code to ensure safety and compliance

Qualifications / Experience:

Ø  4 -5+ years of electrical engineering & design experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in EE or equivalent

Ø  Practical/hands on experience designing & analysis

Ø  Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ø  Experience with complex electro-mechanical systems/subsystems is a plus

Ø  Experience designing electrical systems/subsystems to meet MIL-STD requirements

Ø  Practical/hands-on exp. with hand soldering and cable assembly for troubleshooting and prototype development / testing

Ø  Comfortable with assembly of electro-mechanical components with related tooling

Ø  Comfortable in a fast-paced, high energy environment; excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ø  Experience with CAD tools for schematic capture, wire harness/cable drawings, and system block diagrams

Ø  Proficiency with Microsoft Office to include Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Ø  Must be a US Citizen
