Technical Support Specialist

FrankCrum is seeking a Technical Support Specialist to support sales and client retention through excellent customer services by performing technical support functions and providing technical support to employees and clients. 

Essential Duties:

  • Performs work on servers, network equipment, appliances, desktop equipment, voice systems, desktop systems, peripherals and vendor services for the information technology department.
  • Evaluates work load and capacity of systems to determine feasibility of expanding or enhancing computer operations. Makes recommendations for improvements in computer systems.
  • Evaluates and tests vendor-supplied software packages, upgrades and patches for microcomputers to determine compatibility with existing system, ease of use, and if software meets user needs.
  • Conducts system backups, capacity reviews, patching levels, performance monitoring and tuning. Maintains systems configurations to ensure maximum uptime and performance.
  • Performs various system administration functions including active directory maintenance, patch management, email configuration, appliance configuration, system functions such as releasing jobs, emails, updating parameters, software and hardware upgrades. Coordinates work requests with external vendors.
  • Maintains system security, adds and removes users, maintains security settings, and performs periodic reviews.
  • Assists user to resolve computer-related problems, such as inoperative hardware or software. Trains workers in use of new software or hardware. Provides help desk coverage. Maintains help desk tracking system.
  • Provides user support.
  • Stays current with technology. Reads technical journals or manuals and attends vendor seminars to learn about new computer hardware and software. Achieves and maintains relevant certification.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent.
  • Florida driver’s license. 
  • Three (3) years of experience in areas such as Microsoft technology knowledge including Server, Exchange, Active Directory, SQL Server, O/S patches.  Cisco networks, security appliances for spam management, Internet proxy, firewalls. Disk and tape backups, local area networking, storage area networks, PC, laptops, portable devices, telephony products, disaster recovery, and virtualization.
