Risk Analyst

A well known payment technology company located in Tempe is looking for a Risk Analyst to join their expanding team. 

The primary focus of the Risk Analyst is to monitor merchant accounts and identify inconsistent merchant behavior. The ideal candidate is a highly analytical person that enjoys investigation and puzzle solving. Strong internet research skills coupled with a fraud investigation background would be highly desired.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identify and investigate inconsistent transactions with Card Issuing Banks, consumers, merchants, and all relevant parties.
  • Monitor merchant chargeback activity.
  • Daily communication with merchants being audited. Potential to speak to agents and merchant customers to complete a merchant audit to identify liabilities.
  • Make decisions regarding merchant payments and reserve requirements.
  • Consult with appropriate law enforcement agencies when required.
  • Learn and maintain a basic understanding of card brand regulations.
  • Communicate to merchants account restrictions and cancellations.
  • Utilize Internet tools to gather information useful in determining account risk.
  • Other related duties assigned by management.

Education and Experience (required):

  • High School or related education/experience.
  • At least one (1) year of college preferred
  • Minimum two (2) years audit/fraud analytics experience.
  • Investigative skills.
  • Independent, self-motivated and conscientious.
  • Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills.
  • Computer literate in a variety of applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
