Sr. Manager, Supply Chain-Planning & Purchasing is responsible for developing and maintaining demand and supply plans based on historical trends and expectations for the future as well as overseeing the procurement of all necessary materials and supplies to support the ongoing operations of a growing manufacturing facility. This position leads an on-site (Arkansas based) team of approximately 6 planners/schedulers/buyers and interacts daily with Supply Chain leadership personnel and colleagues at corporate headquarters (New Hampshire) as well as the Arkansas Plant Operations Team. Sr. Manager, Supply Chain-Planning & Purchasing leads cross-functional coordination with all necessary resources to ensure adherence to production schedules, on-time commitments for products available to ship, the status of work in progress, as well as inventory and shop capacity planning.
Job Duties & Responsibilities :
*Collaborates with plant management, product, and engineering management, sales management, and leadership to create long term demand and supply plans for the Arkansas manufacturing facility.
*Executes long-term plans by leading and directing the on-site team to create weekly/monthly/quarterly detailed plans for each manufacturing department within the Arkansas facility.
*Must be comfortable working in an environment where demand is, at times, constrained by the supply of raw materials and component parts requiring dynamic and timely adjustments to plans. This position is responsible for the early identification of supply constraints and will actively work cross-functionally with suppliers and engineering resources to develop solutions and alternatives to include insourcing and the development of new suppliers.
*Drives optimization of schedules by balancing demand priorities against optimal production sequencing for reduction of changeover complexity.
*Generate relevant KPI and operational measures to support the identification of trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
*Analyze production specifications and plant capacity data, perform
calculations to determine weekly/daily/shift capacity, identify bottlenecks and collaborate with the management team to implement solutions.
*Coordinates with the Quality team on supplier improvement initiatives including a Supplier Scorecard Process that helps identify and leverage best in class suppliers while managing supplier risk.
*Supports cross-functional Design, Quality, and Engineering Teams on new Product Introductions and Supplier Improvement Initiatives.
*Assess existing suppliers and develop new supplier relationships. Maintains existing supplier agreements, participates in the development of new agreements.
*Meet with suppliers to discuss capacity, potential new products, and on-time delivery and quality (including on-site visits). Negotiate pricing and lead time with existing and new suppliers.
*Supports the development of business case financial models for new projects or changes to vendors/suppliers.
*Investigate and lead opportunities to reduce product costs, inventory, and improve the supplier base, and/or improve specific processes.
*Implements cost reduction opportunities by employing techniques of price/cost analysis, negotiations, strategic sourcing and value engineering.
Education and/or Experience:
*Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering or related field required
*10+ years of experience sourcing metallic component parts (formed/machined/deep-drawn) and raw material metals in wire, strip, sheet, or tube form
*Oracle ERP experience strongly preferred
*Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting, and forecasting methods with a sound understanding of the financial and operating impact
*Ability to successfully identify and develop high quality lower cost alternate suppliers
*Demonstrated ability to read & interpret Mechanical drawings
*Sound knowledge of BI tools related to demand planning
*Familiarity with material (commodities) procurement in a lean manufacturing environment including inventory systems, material flow, leveraging volume spend, inventory turns, visual management, and continuous improvement tools
*Strong background in building strategic relationships with suppliers and internal customers and stakeholders
*Able to lift up to 25 pounds
*Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated areas.
