Expert Technical Solutions has an outstanding opportunity for a Technical Writer with an exciting, industry leading company in Alpharetta, GA. This person will work on our client’s R&D team and will help lead our client’s transformation from an on-premise model to a cloud-based community forum allowing written and video content to be blended together and as well as interactivity with the user community. The Technical Writer will have a strong belief that information products are a crucial component of a professional business application and will have a passion for working on a collaborative team.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with product owners and subject-matter experts to fully understand not only the “hows” but also the “whys” of the product.
  • Help blend together multimedia content from our client’s video production with the written documentation to provide a more powerful learning experience for our customers.
  • Interview product owners, developers, UX designers, and QA engineers to gather all the key knowledge about new and updated product features as the come off the design and development assembly line.
  • Help design our client’s interview and draft review process to ensure optimum efficiency and timely delivery of content.
  • Maintain an information products (IP) backlog that will help to ensure documentation availability at the point the product is ready for release. Conduct a weekly backlog review with content experts and management to assess readiness of product and content as an ongoing part of the development phase.
  • Collaborate with the team and UX/UI specialist to ensure useful and intuitive labels, messages and other UI text.
  • Develop and oversee and Information Products standards guide to ensure consistency and continuity of content regardless of feature or book area.
  • Oversee the product content release lifecycle to ensure in the sense of properly securing versions of the content in our client’s Microsoft DevOps source control system.
  • Ensure ongoing improvement of your processes and your peers’ processes by requesting and providing regular peer reviews to learn from their feedback and practices, implement agreed improvements and improve the work of others based on your perspectives and experiences

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree highly preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered
  • 3+ years’ experience writing Technical Documentation and Application-Level help content
  • Basic understanding of HTML technologies required
  • Experience with one or more help authoring packages (i.e: RoboHelp, MadCap Flare, etc…)
  • Demonstrated experience working with Wiki technologies
  • Comfortable working in the Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent grammar and exemplifies the appropriate voice and tense in various situations
