An operating group of The Andersons, Inc., the Trade Group specializes in the movement of physical commodities such as whole grains, feed ingredients and energy products. In January 2019, The Andersons, Inc. completed acquisition of long-time affiliate Lansing Trade Group, LLC. Founded in Lansing, Michigan, in 1922, Lansing Trade Group is focused on the movement of physical commodities including grains, feed ingredients, energy products, and freight within North America and internationally. Presently based in Overland Park, Kansas, it employs approximately 550 associates in more than 20 facilities across the U.S. and Canada and a dozen other offices, including in London and Singapore.

We are looking for a full-time Sr Agriculture Merchandising Assistant to support our Overland Parks, KS location. A great opportunity with room for growth, competitive wages, benefits, vacation time, 401K and more!

Position Overview This position is responsible for providing primary support to the assigned location in execution of contracts, rates and coordinating logistical support for commodity shipments by rail, truck or barge.

Key Responsibilities

 Manage all aspects of the accounting function and execution of logistics in support of the Merchandisers.

 Provide customer support to resolve complex issues and partnering with the accounting team to ensure compliance and standardization across each Location’s administrative processes.

 Partner with accounting to ensure all compliance requirements are met within transactions processed by the team.

 Review and approve vendor invoicing, contracts and other key documentation and resolve discrepancies.

 Train Merchandising Assistants I and II to on all tasks required for the ongoing operation of the business.

 Has developed specialized skills or is multi-skilled through job related training or considerable experience

 Completes work with limited degree of supervision

 Likely to act as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience

 Identifies key issues and patterns from partial/conflicting data

 Takes a broad perspective to problems and spots new, less obvious solutions

 

Minimum Qualifications & Skills

 Bachelor’s Degree required (or the equivalent in work experience)

 5+ years’ relevant experience required

Additional Job Requirements

 Excellent Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables and V-lookups) and possess a working knowledge of accounting concepts

 Strong critical thinking and analytical nature

 Ability to collaborate and be a team-player

 Strong detailed orientation with exemplary communication skills

 Experience with Rightangle software platforms, preferred
