Accounts Receivable Manager

The Manager of Accounts Receivable manages all insurance follow-up and no response activities and is responsible for performance and effectiveness of the department. The Manager will be responsible for implementing short and long-term plans and objectives to improve revenue and reduce denials.

The A/R Manager will be responsible for daily cash application and reconciliation functions within the Controller’s group.  This position will work closely with Treasury, Cash Collections, and external customers.  Primary areas of focus include but are not limited to posting/applying payments, account reconciliation, and customer account set-up for tax purposes, as well as other ad-hoc decision support for management.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile all postings daily/weekly/monthly to ensure all receipts are correct
  • Retrieve daily payment information via bank website and lockbox, and create PDF for application
  • Ensure receipts are applied timely and accurately to each customer’s account
  • Distribute daily receipts information internally
  • Work closely with Treasury, Cash Collections, and Customer Care teams to resolve issues timely
  • Post ACH and wire transfers
  • Create and update customers in tax software to ensure information is accurate and exemptions are tracked properly
  • Prepare journal entries based on monthly activity
  • Prepare monthly cash account reconciliations
  • Support the annual audit by supplying cash collection support and bank statement activity
  • Manage process around releasing payments weekly

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required

Skills & Experience:

  • 5 years of work experience in Accounting or related field
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Experience partnering with Collections, Customer Care, and Accounting/Finance teams
  • Knowledge of month-end closing processes and accounting principles
  • Maintain effective relationships with all departments and employees in a team-oriented environment
  • Well organized, dependable, punctual, strong work ethic, and detail oriented 
  • Ability to seek improvement opportunities within area of responsibility
  • Flexible/adaptive to change and ability to manage numerous tasks simultaneously
