The Chief Engineer plans and directs all aspects of engineering activities (including product innovation) and projects within the organization in support of Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy projects. Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with the organization's established policies and objectives, including development of work scope, budget and schedule. Applies a high level of technical expertise and ingenuity to identify potential engineering solutions. Utilizes industry best practice engineering methods and provides expert technical guidance for engineering initiatives. Incorporates components, materials, and tools that result in cost-effective and quality output. Manages overall engineering budget and costs. Directs and assists team members, both Company employees and outside contractors, in the completion of their work. Coordinates input from, and participation with, various departments within the Company as needed to meet project objectives.

Oversee the daily operation of the Engineering department, assuring departmental goals are achieved.  Plan, direct, coordinate, and review the workload for engineering staff; assign work activities, projects/tasks, review and evaluate work products, methods, and procedures; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems.

Develops short and long range organizational plans and goals, assigns work to subordinates, determining work schedules and priorities to ensure projects are on schedule and within budget. 

Consults with senior management to negotiate or coordinate work related changes.

Plans for the acquisition of all necessary resources to support the department; manages design engineering costs to ensure alignment with project budgets; prepares input for budget.

Fosters new ideas and inventions.

Recruits engineering talent with the capability to support the growth goals of the business.

Provides training and mentoring as needed across the Engineering team.

Identify, evaluate, select, and manage external contractors for supply of components and outsourcing activities.

Plans and coordinates the work of outside vendors and the engineering staff to ensure team cohesion, budget considerations and appropriate project/task timeline. 

Stay abreast of the latest changes, trends and technological advancements in the industry through attendance at conferences, seminars, continuing education, literature, etc.


BS degree in Electrical Engineering

Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or MBA (preferred)

Minimum of 10 years of related industry experience

Familiar with medical device development environment

Experience in Antenna design and analysis in HF/VHF range

Experienced with RF test equipment such as signal generators, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers and oscilloscope

Familiarity, educational experience, or on the job experience in:

  • RF circuit theory, application, testing and prototyping
  • RF power amplifier design (Class C, D, E, F)
  • Matching/Tuning circuit design for RF power amplifiers and antennas
  • RF design & integration experience, including in-lab debug experience
  • Reading and understanding schematic diagrams
  • Analog circuit design simulator software (PSPICE, LTSPICE)
  • RF simulation software tools (NI AWR, ANSYS HFSS, or similar)
  • Investigating EMI / EMC issues, identify solutions, and report findings effectively
  • Experience in developing RF transmit chain  

At least 3 years of administrative and supervisory experience

Must possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Proven ability to build strong teams and lead people to overcome challenges and achieve aggressive goals

Knowledge of project management practices, procedures, and requirements, and ability to support same.

Analytical and problem solving skills to include the ability to resolve complex situations and make effective decisions based on the goals, objectives and priorities.

Must be able to apply engineering/technical principles to analyze and solve problems.

Must clearly and concisely communicate technical information and concepts with various levels of management in both formal and informal settings.

Must be able to prepare written communications on technical and non-technical matters for various levels of management.

Proficient computer skills in Word, Excel, Power Point
