Our Client is seeking an Electrical Engineer in Kearney, NJ.


Earn $95,000 to $105,000 per year at this full-time permanent position. Work 40 plus hours per week, Monday through Friday at various schedules to be determined.  Candidate must be available to respond to emergencies 24/7.


Job Description:

  • Develop, plan and manage plant capital projects particularly as they relate to electrical, instrumentation and controls of chemical processes
  • Provide a technical resource to the entire engineering team and plant maintenance staffs as it relates to the troubleshooting of existing process electrical, instrumentation and controls problems
  • Support, advise and develop annual capital expenditure plans that support business growth within a PSM driven environment
  • Define scope and develop drawings (P&ID’s, Single Line, Electrical Schematics for Motor Control, Isometrics and others) supporting projects
  • Support plant Process Control Systems by making minor programming changes/upgrades and direct programming upgrades for DCS, PLC and HMI applications
  • Submit Capital Expenditure Requests (CapX) for major projects, track expenditures and prepare progress reports
  • Develop standards for Company wide implementation in the design and maintenance of electrical, instrumentation and control systems
  • Develop priority list, provide technical expertise and work with EH & S Department to bring facilities into and then maintain NFPA70 e- compliance
  • Review and update electrical, instrument and control drawings as necessary to support projects as well as PSM initiatives
  • Enhance the procedures maintaining accurate records for equipment and develop procedures to further strengthen engineering controls
  • Prepare bid packages for project work and eventually award, procure materials and manage the construction, connection and commissioning of projects
  • Coordinate capital project changes through the use of PSM tools such as ECR’s, MOC’s, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA’s), Pre-Start Up Safety Reviews (PSSR) and other related processes
  • Evaluate equipment and process performance and search for recommendations for improvements
  • Learn, understand and make recommendations on plant operations
  • Assist other management or maintenance team members with technical support to improve skills, techniques or procedures as required
  • Assist in, and recommend training programs
  • Travel between Company plant sites, to vendors and seminars

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering/Electrical Technology
  • 5 plus years of Engineering and Project Management in the Electrical/Instrumentation and Controls of Chemical Operations
  • Experience with medium and low voltage electrical power distribution systems (AC/DC)
  • Experience using electrical testing equipment and proper methods for testing proper function of electrical systems such as AutoCAD, PSM, ISO and SCADA Systems is desired
  • Pass a 10-panel controlled substance testing and random testing after that
  • Pass a background investigation check and maintain in good standing order as per TSA’s TWIC criteria (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)
  • Must have effective oral and written communication skills
  • Must have computer skills and knowledge of commonly used Microsoft Office software
  • Must be able to sit, periodically bend and twist and frequently apply a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
  • Must be able to work with limited supervision while meeting plant objectives
  • Must assure that all work associated with the position is administered within the confines of Process Safety Management initiatives
  • This position requires interaction with all levels of company employees and frequent contact with Maintenance Supervisor, Plant Superintendent, and upper management
  • Must be able to multi-task and adjust to changing priorities
