Repair Technician

Ultra Electronics Wallingford, CT Full-Time

Job Description:
 
As a Repair Technician with Ultra Electronics Measurement Systems you will be responsible for servicing a broad range of Measurement Systems products. You will utilize your skill and expertise to provide our customers with highly reliable repairs performed in an expeditious manner.
  • Perform incoming inspection on customer property to determine condition.
  • Troubleshoot any noted failures to the component level.
  • Disassemble hardware as required. Remove and replace defective electrical and mechanical assemblies.
  • De-solder and solder electrical components
  • Clean and reassemble hardware. Calibrate equipment and perform final function test procedures
  • Fill out records and process other paperwork and forms required during the maintenance process.
Required Skills:
  • Associate Degree in Electronics or have comparable military training
  • 3+ years experience in a manufacturing environment at an Electronic Technician
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.  Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.
Desired Skills:
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing techniques of electromechanical products and prior experience using basic manufacturing equipment, tools and gages such as multi-meters, torque and force gages, height and compression gages, hardness testers, calipers and micrometers
  • Prior machine shop experience including the set-up use of related equipment such as grinders, lathes, milling machines, drilling presses etc.  
  • J-std-001 Soldering Certification
  • Must be willing to independently troubleshoot electromechanical components to the component level.
  • Must be willing to independently repair electromechanical components. Repair includes disassembly, removal and replacement of defective electrical/electronic and mechanical components and reassembly.
  • Must be willing to work with complicated schematics and assembly drawings.
  • Willingness  to read and interpret Manufacturing Process Instructions.
  • Willing to complete internal and customer paperwork in support of repair activities.
  • Good computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Must be a strong contributor with excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and be able to work well independently as well as part of a team in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings including assembly drawings, schematics and engineering instructions. 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to write routine correspondence and speak effectively.
  •  Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook software.

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is often required to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
