Director of Healthcare Architecture Needed!!
Location: Peoria, IL
Job Summary - Provide leadership and direction to a design group responsible for designing healthcare workplace spaces including master planning for new healthcare facilities, additions, and remodels. Research new technologies, trends and innovative best practices in healthcare design and construction. Coach and mentor a very talented healthcare design group with a solid client base as a foundation for growth. As a collaborative team member, you will work closely with others on the leadership team to plan and develop healthcare projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in architecture or equivalent in education or experience required. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of healthcare planning and design experience required with proven experience in clinical planning leadership preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of managerial/supervisory experience
- Demonstrates creativity, passion and interest in design and planning of healthcare facilities
- Licensed Architect with current registration in your region or Illinois preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with leading the discipline design for projects and delegating work tasks to team members. Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment
- Strong presentation, communication, organizational, team building, collaboration and communication skills are a must
- Strong knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness.
- Knowledge of design principles and the ability to interpret design concepts and layouts, including commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the profession required
- Advanced knowledge of building regulations, FGI Guidelines, safety codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate into technical documents required
- Advanced knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines, LEED specialty preferred
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with leadership to manage and execute a portfolio of healthcare projects by understanding project requirements, communicating project status, timelines and issues
- Coordinate and interact with design group members, senior leadership and stakeholders as well as external consultants - architects, engineers and construction managers on projects of varying scope and scale
- Recommend appropriate assignment of capital projects to external architectural and engineering firms and directs their work including design reviews
- Actively seek new knowledge in the design and planning of medical and healthcare facilities and the impact of newly emerging technology in medical equipment and medical communications in hospitals
- Facilitate the healthcare planning process by leading the design group to create strategic campus master plans, departmental level master plans and feasibility studies
- Provide guidance to the design group to prepare and interpret quantitative healthcare programming information, generate alternative healthcare planning configurations, arranges and plan clinical spaces with coordinated equipment and fit-out requirements
- Supervise the activities of the design group; delegating appropriately, providing adequate direction and follow-up, makes optimal use of resources
- Ensure the deliverables of the design group are met within the greater project deliverable schedule
- Maintain a robust workplace environment by providing feedback to the design group regarding performance and job-related issues, develop positive and proactive employee relationships
- Promote professional growth and development of staff through continuous education and other programs. Utilizes team building concepts to effectively empower team members
- Serve as a coach and role model for staff and colleagues creating a work environment that fosters respect and positive morale and strong employee engagement
- Participate in team meetings to help resolve project issues, coordination with other disciplines, schedule adherence and technical issues
- Actively participates in industry associations
