Title: Manufacturing Automation Engineer

Location: Lafayette, IN, 47901, USA

Job type: Full time - Regular 

Customer: UTC AEROSPACE SYSTEMS

Travel: Up to 75% possible

 

Job Description :

Essential Job Functions:

 

·        The Manufacturing Automation Engineer will work with various teams to improve upon and create new manufacturing processes;

·        Provide manufacturing engineering solutions in the areas of process planning, shop support activities, and project leadership.

·        Provide engineering support to customer's manufacturing & assembly organizations to trouble shoot and resolve technical problems.

·        Drive improvements in all related manufacturing processes, including those related to products, equipment, and product quality for customers

·        Determine requirements for new production equipment to maximize profitability of new products and create statements of work to procure through third party vendors

·        Root Cause Failure Analysis of manufacturing processes

·        Manufacturing machinery diagnostics

·        Tooling design using various CAD programs

·        Develop work instructions to implement best practices/lessons learned and ensure repeatability

Special Skills / Knowledge

 

·        Knowledge of manufacturing and materials processes, Quality Notifications, containment procedures and traceability techniques

·        Well versed in Engineering & manufacturing drawings

·        Expert in interpreting the GD&T (standards ASME Y 14.5, JES 161)

·        Knowledge in Measurements system analysis (MSA)

·        Hands on experience in various machining, involving CNC and conventional methods and assembly techniques

·        Familiarity with CMM and CAM offline/ Online programming

·        Knowledgeable in methods of inspection & Gauging concepts

·        Data collection and Analysis using QC tools and other SPC techniques

·        Experience/knowledge in APQP, PPAP, LEAN & 5S management

·        Exposure to Aero/ Auto industry is preferred

·        Familiar with aerospace/auto quality requirements (AS9100, OSHAS, TS 16949, various ISO)

·        Familiar with NADCAP programs for Aerospace (Civil & Defense) parts

 

Qualifications

 

·        AS or BS in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or related technical experience

·        4-6 years of hands on experience in Manufacturing

·        Experience with SAP, Team Center, SolidWorks, NX a plus

·        Ability to work in ambiguous situations required, such as taking action when all the information is not available

·        Able to work in a team environment and independently

·        Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint, required
