JOB SUMMARY:

The Solution Architect is responsible for understanding the requirements of the customer and designing a solution based upon the constraints set by the customer and our capabilities.  This will feed a proposal for a system that can be deployed at a customer’s warehouse and fulfillment operations. The candidate should be able to complete all high-level design aspects of the system from collecting requirements, determining the best technologies, designing the system, and instrumental in coaching team members in selecting equipment, drawing, estimating and creating the proposal. The Solution architect should Lead, develop and coach the proposal team proactively and ensure high level of technical knowhow.   


MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Strategy Stays current with existing and developing technologies that are being used to solve challenges in distribution and fulfillment. Creates and designs the game winning overall solutions that leverage industry knowledge, data analytics, customer specific service levels, and internal capabilities.  Responsible for determining fast and accurate project budgets that assist sales in qualifying opportunities and to help customers compare and select varying approaches. sales qualify opportunities and to assist in moving the design process along.  All activities are in line with the sales strategy and sales activities plan.

2. Targets Assists and supports the sales strategy regarding key targets and ensures the sales organization is supported on an opportunity base. 

3. Promotional activities Ensures opportunity specific solutions are based upon a strong value proposition to customers and if possible are used multiple times.  Assists in developing comparative ROI information to assist customers in the decision-making process.   

4. Customer relations Creates a vision of a loyal, committed and long-term customer relationship and implements the necessary action plan and steps to reach the vision. Supports development of strong relationships with key target audience through consultative approach and excellent industry knowledge. Drives customer engagement through regularly scheduled technical reviews with the customers team and is an integral part of the sales-team in opportunity, project development and problem solving from a technical standpoint.

5. Reporting Opportunity based reporting, as well as Defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for team accomplishments and actions. Establishes regular reports and statistics. Reviews and analyzes performance against standards and prepares improvements plans.

6. People leadership and development. Ensures (with HR support) that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed. Coaches, motivates and develops direct and indirect subordinates within HR policies. Is capable of balancing multiple competing priorities at any given time within the group.  Drives and ensures know-how sharing and cross-collaboration. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         B.S. in Engineering or equivalent.

·         5-10 years’ experience in Sales, Concepting, and design

·         Knowledge of warehouse operations; from receiving through shipping

·         Knowledge of Material Handling Technologies (Storage, ASRS, Conveying, Self-Driving, Robotics)

·         General WMS, WCS and messaging knowledge.

·         Labor and Financial modeling a plus. 

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

·         Must be able to communicate with customer, engineering, and controls teams.

·         Able to present Complex High Capex installations

·         Excellent writing skills.

·         Ability to direct and understand 3D drawings and Models with a preferred AutoCAD knowledge.

·         Basic PLC controls understanding

·         Excellent analytical skills and process design.

·         Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

·         Ability to collaborate and communicate in a professional manner both verbally and written.

·         Ability to adapt to changing priorities.

·         Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

·         Ability to teach and lead proposal teams 


Work Environment:  This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, etc.


Travel:  Generally, this position requires up to 30% travel to customer sites.

·         Instrumental for initial Bid / No Bid Review based upon sales request or customer RFPs

·         Sales provided or customer RFP input analysis and develop response that meets the customer’s requirements.

·         Create Data sets, Line Diagram, Block Layouts, Principal Concept lay-outs, TCO analysis, Customer presentations

·         Coordinate with other departments on as needed base (mechanical, software, sales), solicit input, deliverables and pricing from these departments.

·         Review customer requirements.

·         Visit the customer’s site to collect information.

·         Perform data analysis and report findings.

·         Develop process to achieve the customer’s goals.

·         Design a system to support the process.  The system may include one or more technologies.

·         Develop project budget and customer pricing.

·         Create the proposal and supporting documents including, but not limited to:  Written proposal, Drawings & BOMs, Architecture diagram, Description of Operation and Schedule.

·         Present solution to customer, remote and on-site.

·         Work with the software team to provide WCS/WES/WMS Gap analysis as required within a specific opportunity

·         B.S. in Engineering or equivalent.
