FUNCTION: This position is located in the Physical Therapy Department of Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH). KVMH is part of the Kauai Region, Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawaii operating 12 facilities statewide.

The primary function of the staff physical therapist is to evaluate and treat patients as referred by a licensed physician and to restore these patients to the highest level of function possible during the hospital or outpatient treatment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience are credited based on a 40-hour workweek.

Certification: Certification in Health Care Provider (adult, child and infant) and/or Health Saver Plus (adult) must be obtained within six (6) months of employment.

License Requirement: Applicants must possess a valid unrevoked license issued by the State of Hawaii to practice as a Physical Therapist at the time of appointment.

HHSC has more than 4,000 employees. Over 89 percent of the employees are represented by 1 of 2 unions and are divided into 7 collective bargaining units. The two collective bargaining representatives are United Public Workers and the Hawaii Government Employees Association. Since HHSC is a public agency, its employees are provided the same benefit rights and privileges of other state agencies. The membership of the collective bargaining units also includes employees from other state agencies. There are close to 1000-plus physicians affiliated with HHSC facilities.
