Job Details

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is recruiting for, Junior and Senior Electrical Design Engineers , for a 12-month contract assignment supporting the U.S. Air Force facility near Ogden, UT. This onsite role offers a W2 hourly base rate with time and a half for overtime, per diem, and mobilization / demobilization. Our client is targeting $77.00 - $100.00/hour commensurate with education and experience.

U.S. Citizenship is required.

Position Summary :
This role will support the USAF Sentinel Program Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase by preparing engineering studies, drawings, calculations, specifications, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. This is an onsite position at Hill Air Force Base, just outside Salt Lake City, UT. Full time presence on project is required.



Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard electrical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
  • Participates in the design, development, and modification of components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission, and storage of electricity utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides.
  • Coordinates electrical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, other engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction, etc.
  • Prepares conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals.
  • Provides technical assistance to other electrical personnel and will interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards.
  • Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project electrical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution
  • Work with and mentor junior electrical engineers as well as work with other technical disciplines in a team environment.
  • Develop new design drawings using AutoCAD such as single lines, panel schedules, schematics, cable block diagrams, grounding, lightning protection, cathodic protection, and more.
  • Perform power system analysis modeling and calculations utilizing ETAP. Calculations will include Load Flow, Short Circuit, Motor starting, Relay Coordination, Arc Flash.
  • Other facility calculations include, lighting design using AGI 32, facility ground grid sizing utilizing ETAP, and underground cable thermal de-rating analysis utilizing ETAP
  • Perform equipment sizing calculations such as medium voltage utility and low voltage transformers, panel boards, surge protective devices, uninterruptable power supplies and battery sizing calculations
  • Perform circuit breaker and cable sizing calculations per NFPA 70 to include various de-rating factors.
  • Develop equipment and material specifications utilizing the software SpecsIntact
  • Develop procurement documentation (written scopes of work) as well as perform supplier proposal evaluations.
  • Review vendor submittals and integrate information into the design
  • Coordinate systems requirement development and verifications with Systems engineering and the client.

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (pending level assignment).
  • 5-15 years of experience in design of electrical systems and equipment on nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, utility plants, or complex building electrical systems (pending level assignment).
  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, systems calculations, equipment sizing, and cable sizing.
  • Strong knowledge of power systems load modeling and analysis
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered Professional Engineer in USA (Electrical Engineering).
  • Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ISO-9000.
  • Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense.
  • Experience executing engineering design with SmartPlant 3D.
  • Intermediate knowledge of developing CSI Masterformat specifications, or SpecsIntact.
  • Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide.
  • Active Government Secret Clearance.
