Claims Supervisor - Field

·         Plans and supervises work assignments of  Field Claims Representatives in managed territory across multiple states

·         Directs work assignments, schedules and reviews work-in-progress

·         Reviews more complex cases and settles or initiates further action within approved authority levels

·         Serves as technical resource to team members and others in the organization

·         Provides information to and seeks information from underwriting, loss control, sales and actuarial to identify and maintain profitable business

·         Maintains appropriate level of Loss Adjustment Expense by reviewing and managing vendor usage

·         Handles errors and complaints and ensures regulatory compliance

·         Personally reviews and adjusts selected claims

·         Provides complete summaries of current work status and work condition to department and division management on a timely basis

·         Participates in file audits

·         Leads and participates in project teams and specialty assignments

·         Serves as back up and a resource to other supervisors and their teams frequently

·         Frequent travel throughout managed territory to coach, mentor and train team members and establish relationships with agency partners


·         Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience

·         Five or more years of claims handling experience

·         Demonstrated capability with personal computer and related software

·         Advanced knowledge of all insurance lines is required (Personal, Commercial, Farm/AG, Specialty)

·         Able to manage, prioritize and multi-task projects by applying judgment and knowledge

·         Ability to work in and build a team environment

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         Ability to work without supervision and work remotely

·         Have the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and still maintain quality work and proper work-life balance

·         Ability to learn new skills and tasks quickly

·         Demonstration of being a life longer learner through participation in and achievement of insurance designations such as CPCU, AIC, SCLA

·         High degree of emotional intelligence
