Job Title: Product Development Engineer

Duration: 15+ months contract (temp to perm)

Location: 80 Ashby Road, Bedford, MA 01730

1 day a week from home, otherwise in office

Job Description:

  • As a Product development engineer within Bioprocess R&D group, you will build be involved in all aspects of the product development process as part of a team to design, develop, and validate Mobius® Single Use products.

Key Skills & Expectations:

  • Experience with product development practices, evaluations, and documentation.
  • Will need a high level of creativity with working though new, complex problems.
  • Ability to prototype customer products and mechanical fixtures for testing or manufacturing in labs.
  • Ability to write reports, presentations to capture and summarize work. MS word, Excel and Power Point
  • Must have strong CAD skills, 3D modeling and drawings, specifically in SolidWorks.
  • Must be capable of solving problems of moderate scope and complexity following established procedures.
  • Must be capable of working on multiple projects, skilled multi-tasker, meet established deadlines, and follow up on requests for action or information.
  • Must have the ability to learn new skills.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate ability to work semi-independently, with minimal to moderate supervision.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, urgency, enthusiasm, and high energy.
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a team and cross function departments environment.
  • Must be able to lift to 30 lbs.

Additional skills of value:

  • Tensile testing, die cutting of samples, film bonding, equipment trouble shooting
  • Experience in fabrication using handheld cutting tools, manual lathes, and mills.
  • Part design for 3D printing and/or operation of 3D printers.
  • Machine assembly (mechanical, electrical, pneumatics)
  • Preferably experience in bioprocessing/biotech/pharma/medical device
  • Experience with AutoCAD also a plus

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in an Engineering or Design discipline (Mechanical, Plastics, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or Product Design).
  • Prior work experience or internship in an R&D environment preferred.
  • 1-3+ years’ work experience.
  • 3 years, Solid works, 3D Modeling, CAD
  • Manufacturing background is nice to have
