Job Description

Department:      Quality Control Laboratory

 

Position Summary:         Conduct Microbiological testing on dietary supplements including raw materials, finished products and stability samples to ensure GMP compliance. Provide comprehensive technical support and advice in all microbiological testing related issues, including but not limited to OOS investigation, specification, evaluation, cleaning procedures

 

Reporting Relationship: Reports directly to the QC Laboratory Microbiology Supervisor

 

Hours:                           This is a first shift position. Based upon business needs different hours, off shift

                                        hours and/or weekends may be required.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform method transfer, method development and validation.

  • Conduct testing for routine samples and environmental monitoring as required.

    • Aerobic plate count, Salmonella, E. coli, S. aureus, Yeast and Mold, Coliforms, Listeria, and B. cereus.

  • Conduct growth promotion testing, water testing and environmental monitoring.

  • Originate and revise laboratory SOPs.

  • Write validation plans and summary reports.

  • Provide comprehensive technical support and advice in all microbiological testing related issues, including but not limited to OOS investigation, specification, evaluation, cleaning procedures

  • Review laboratory experiments and data in LIMS, notebooks, and related documents.

  • Conduct Real Time PCR for bacterial identification

  • Conduct ELISA style allergen testing

  • Assist protein analysis, physical testing and analytical testing as needed.

  • Train new lab personnel.

  • Assist in the general housekeeping and organization of the laboratory.

  • Support other laboratory tasks as needed.

     

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Microbiology or related discipline with at least 3 years hands-on experience in microbiology techniques or Bachelors and 5 years’ experience.   

  • Solid knowledge of Microbiology. Strong data analysis skill and troubleshooting ability. Preferred to have prior experience conducting method development and validation work in a FDA regulated pharmaceutical, dietary supplements, OTC or food.

  • Organized, attention to details, self-starter and team worker

  • Good documentation skills under cGMP regulation.
