Job Description

Field Service Technician - Reciprocating Compressors

Our Client is an international leader in manufacturing air compressors, blowers and pumps for industrial and petroleum markets. We have an exciting opportunity for a Field Service Technician specializing in maintenance and repair of our line of PET Reciprocating compressor products. The successful candidate must have a strong desire to excel in superior Customer Service and possess the ability to become a highly skilled Field Service Technician for our client’s high pressure compressor products. The position requires weekly overnight travel to various Customer facilities and will report directly to the Service Department team leader who will coordinate the service activity schedule.


* Perform project preparation and arrange travel to Customer sites

* Perform preventative maintenance, repairs and commissioning at Customer sites

* Train Customer personnel in the proper operation of the system controls

* Regular attendance is an essential function of the job

* Perform other duties as assigned

  • Install and assemble compressor package components at factory or customer sites
  • Supervise or perform installation and startup of equipment at customer site according to internal checklists
  • Rebuild and change components of a core compressor along with servicing the compressor
  • Perform routine maintenance services to compressors according to internal procedures which include the removal and installation of enclosures and duct
  • Troubleshoot and perform/support root cause analysis on large reciprocating compressors
  • Install electrical components as well as having 3-phase electrical experience
  • Perform minor adjustments to PLC and HMI software a
  • Write and compile service reports including but not limited to checklists, daily logs and pictures
  • Perform work following EHS standards
  • Coordinate with plant/sites maintenance superintendents for tools and necessary support needed to perform

Field Service Tech QUALIFICATIONS:

* Associate or Technical Degree preferred

* 5+ years field service experience with large reciprocating compressors, Rotary compressors, or centrifugal compressors

* Excellent Customer Service, communication, and problem solving skills are required

* Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude as demonstrated in experience with servicing high pressure air compressors or related rotating equipment

* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and wire diagrams

* Computer skills for travel arranging, expense and trip reporting

* Possess basic hand tools used in industrial type repairs

  • Knowledge of rotational equipment in order to do shaft alignment, use of laser equipment, balancing techniques and process, application and use of disk flexible couplings,electrical motors used as pumps or main drivers.
  • Knowledge of internal turbo compressor components in order to disassemble, change components and re-assemble is a plus.
  • Allen Bradley, Siemens, Modicon PLC and HMI basic programming is a plus.
  • Ability to work with interdisciplinary groups (Project Management, Engineering, Sales) to align in the solutions and communications offered to customer
