In this position, you will be responsible for managing a multi-state, multi-company payroll for a 1300 employee bank. You will manage a team responsible for the timely, accurate and complete processing of payroll on a biweekly basis with oversight of time and attendance management systems. You will ensure compliance, best practices and proper controls. Workday strongly preferred.
Primary responsibilities include:
Ensures all payroll activities are executed within the specific guidelines set forth by SOX Compliance and Segregation of Duties. Adheres to the control objectives established with Internal Audit.
Responsible for managing all year-end tax reporting, including W2s and W2-Cs.Work with vendor to ensure all imputed income is captured and appropriately reported.
Responsible for items that require expert payroll knowledge such as: special/unique payrolls, 401K administration, etc.
Performs research for changes to wage tax and other related legislation impacting the payroll.
Ensures that direct deposit, tax changes, deduction changes, etc. are accurate and resolves issues accordingly.
Responsible for the coordination of tax set up and filing of remote office locations in various states and localities.
Creates/edits ad-hoc reports within the HRIS and provides accurate data to management when requested
Recommends system and process improvements and provides solutions.
Develops and grows staff.
Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience directly running multi-state and multi-company payroll required, including Time and Attendance Management.
Minimum of 2 years in a management/mentoring role with the ability to develop individuals and build a strong team.
Experience with system upgrades required, system implementations experience a plus. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Considerable knowledge of payroll methods and practices and tax filing. Up-to-date working knowledge of federal, state and local labor and wage and hour laws.
Exposure to Sarbanes Oxley control testing and documentation
Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Attention to detail a must.
Previous experience with Workday Payroll preferred.
High School degree or equivalent required.
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar qualification preferred.
