Job Description

The Clinical Analyst II – mPages/CORE serves as the primary application support contact and customer liaison for Shriner’s implementations of Cerner’s Core functionality with an additional focus in Cerner Command Language (CCL) Discern Rules, and mPage development & maintenance.  The Clinical Core Analyst will assist with the life cycle of these and related applications including planning, implementation, testing, training, education, and end-user support.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Works directly with all Clinical analysts in efforts to maintain and standardize, aliases, code sets, and event set hierarchy    5%

  • mPages presentation design and development          30%

  • Manages Cerner security including position and user level preferences and relationships  5%

  • Establishes new organizations or facilities using Cerner bedrock wizards.  5%

  • Design and support CCL reports, Discern Expert (Rules), and mPages.  Serves as the primary liaison between Medical Affairs and clinicians in the development of new CCL and mPage content.  5%

  • Ability to audit Cerner systems as part of an extensive set of troubleshooting tools and skills.  5%

  • Understand and coordinates Software Services Packages (SP) processing.  5%

  • Continuously reviews workflows with analysts and then uses that knowledge to create or enhance system functionality.   5%

  • Coordinate with system vendors/developers and Cerner for issue escalation and system updates. 5%

  • Manages and communicates Cerner SW updates with IS and Medical Affairs personnel.  5%

  • Develops detailed testing scripts with Medical Affairs and pertinent users to ensure data integrity and seamless impacts to the organization.   5%

  • Assists with new EMR projects including coordinating the design, development and implementation of authorized projects including mPages modules. 5%

  • Perform evaluation of internal resources needed when upgrades or new functionality is available or requested.  5%

  • Work with Training Department to create, maintain and distribute proper training manuals, guides and reference documentation as necessary. 5%

  • Assists with training for new staff as required. 5%

Job Requirements

The qualified candidate will have experience in the following areas

  • Minimum 3-5 years proficient experience with Cerner CORE (HNAUser, Pref Main, Event set hierarchies, etc.), Cerner Command Language, and mPages.

  • Minimum 3-5 years hospital IS experience.

Minimum Education Required/Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:

  • Knowledge of CORE build including HNAUser, Event sets, Charting, Billing, FSI, OPS jobs, etc.

  • Knowledge with multiple Cerner applications including: RadNet, PathNet, PowerChart, PharmNet, Clinical Documentation, Power Plans, Power Orders, etc.

  • Experience in mPages

  • Knowledge and experience writing reports and rules against clinical work flows

  • Experience in SQL, CCL

  • Proficient communication and problem-solving skills necessary to effectively communicate with users, management and others in seeking and making solution changes.

  • Capability to work with and provide guidance to Hospital Clinical Analysts as needed.

  • Ability to recognize the worth of each co-worker as a valuable member of the patient care team, as well as place the good of the team ahead of personal objectives to work together as a team member.
