Job Description

The transportation coordinator is responsible for the distribution of TFNJ’s outbound freight and backhauls. This responsibility includes ensuring fleet assets, third party carriers, company and temporary drivers and jockeys, are all positioned to make on time deliveries of product to our customers while maintaining compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations. The Transportation Coordinator will report directly to the Transportation Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assign drivers to each route to ensure 100% coverage, coordinating with temporary staffing agencies as required.
• Work with shipping/receiving dispatchers and the customer service department to ensure all shipments are set up correctly in our ERP system (Axapta).
• Responsible for entering driver payroll information and submitting to Payroll and Transportation Manager for Review.
• Aid in route maintenance including additions/consolidations to existing and new routes.
• Responsible for the accuracy of Trip Cost data entry, including route mileage, detention time, fuel, tolls, temp tails, and any other factors that impact the total cost of delivering freight to our customers.
• Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the Shipping Load Tracker and collaborating with the dispatch team to make necessary adjustments.
• Responsible for ensuring company assets (Tractors, trailers, etc) are in regulation with State and Federal Laws and all necessary documentation is kept up to date. This includes all required stickers (example: HUB, DOT #’s), registration cards, insurance cards, fuel tax and mileage reporting, etc.
• Auditing of Driver Log Books to ensure each driver is operating within set regulations.
• Maintain inventory of temp tails, trailer seals, log books, other supplies or equipment as necessary.
• Scheduling and coordinating the Jockey team to ensure 24/7 coverage.
• Aid in all accident investigations.
• Other duties and tasks as requested.

Job Requirements


• Minimum of two years’ prior transportation/fleet experience, CDL driver experience is preferred.
• Sound knowledge of DOT safety regulations and FMSCA compliance regulations.
• Experience in short shelf life, perishable food delivery is preferred. Experience with produce items is ideal as well.
• Proven organizational skills.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft office applications.
