Job Description

Our client in Needham, MA is seeking a Cash Application Specialist to join their team. In this contract-to-hire role, you will handle daily inquiries, research, and follow up with all patient accounts receivable. As the Cash Application Specialist, you will also interact routinely with patients, staff, other departments within the organization, as well as with outside contacts with payers and physicians. Responsibilities for the Cash Application Specialist:

  • Answer patient phone calls and correspondence on a daily basis
  • Answer inquiries from patients in a timely and professional manner
  • Identify appropriate actions needed to resolve issues at hand
  • Responsible for adjustments, transfers, researching, updating and correcting computerized registration and billing files
  • Coordinate with Patient Accounts and Cash posting departments to resolve billing issues
  • Re-submit claims as needed
  • Prepare written responses to various patient inquiries
  • Schedule payments with patients, reviews insurance information and suggests and posts credit card payments
  • Document all actions and communication for the account in the Caretracker system

Job Requirements

Requirements for the Cash Application Specialist:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years related work experience
  • Thorough understanding of insurances, billing and patient accounting
  • Knowledge of third party billing and coverage requirements, systems use, payer regulations and hospital policies and procedures
  • Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritizing skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
