Position Title: Registered Nurse ( RN )

Position Summary: The Registered Nurse, as a professional practitioner employed by PCH, assumes responsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care. The nurse demonstrates ability to make clinical judgments in an effective and efficient manner with supervision. The nurse demonstrates critical thinking and performance ability in the coordination of patient care. Consistently performs accordingly to nursing standards and is accountable in managing patient care and assisting others in the management of patient care.

Position Requirements:

1.       Current Registered Nurse License in CA. 

2.       Full command, verbal and written, of the English Language.

3.       Current physical, PPD ( per facility )

4.       Prefer one year of facility staffing experience within the past three years.

5.       Current BLS card

6.       Successful completion of screening tests for the clinical specialty area (s) in which the RN practices with a score of 80% or greater.

Responsible To: Account Manager

Responsibilities:

1.       Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.

2.       Performs focused interview to identify specific patients needs.

3.       Assess signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient’s condition.

4.       Collects, analyzes, and interprets data and information from health care members and documents actual and / or potential nursing diagnoses.

5.       Documents the patient’s plan of care using identified nursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursing interventions.

6.       Identifies and prioritizes actions based upon patient care requirements.

7.       Monitors consistency between patient plan of care and actions of medical staff.

8.       Performs interventions according to identified priorities, plan of care, and the hospital policies and patient care outcome standard.

9.       Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patient environment.

10.   Initiates the evaluates patient and / or family education

11.   Revises the plan of care according to evaluation, changes in medical plan of care, and effective/ineffective nursing interventions.

12.   Documents patient’s response to nursing and other interventions.

13.   Uses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet patient care needs of and assigned unit/floor including establishing priorities.

14.   Monitors the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment.

15.   Participates in activities to facilitate good interpersonal communications with the chosen facility.

16.    Supports professional practice by observing the following: Uses knowledge and practices in accordance with 1) the Nurse Practice Act; 2) Standards of Nursing Practice; 3) Standards of Patient Care; 4) JCAHO, state and local laws; 5) Patient’s Bill of Rights; and 6) PCH, nursing and client hospital policies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Employee is required to stand, walk, bend/stoop, and squat continuously. Reach above shoulder level frequently. Strength up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, or negligible amount continuously. Fine manipulation requirements of both hands. Employee is exposed to blood borne pathogens continuously, and frequently-occasionally exposed to chemotherapeutics and toxic chemicals.

(Occasionally – 1-33%; Frequently – 34-66%; Continuously – 67-100%)
