CNC OPERATOR

Summary:

  • Completes CNC Programming using CAD/CAM for 3 and 4 axis CNC equipment.
  • Creates CNC programs for manufacturing components, cutter selection, setup documentation, tooling design and drafting, CNC tooling programs, verification and shop aid sketches
  • Responsible for the creation of CNC machine programs for the manufacturing of mid to high complexity components.

Responsibilities:

  • Using CAD/CAM software (Mastercam/Autodesk inventor), select the appropriate cutting tools and speeds/feeds for a variety of material types to create CNC programs and instructions used to run a CNC machine
  • Verify CNC code to engineering models to insure accuracy
  • Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and design data in order to determine the appropriate machine tool, workholding and cutter selection, machine speeds, and feed rates
  • Observe machine trial runs or conduct computer simulations to ensure that programs and machinery will function properly and produce items that meet specifications
  • Verify CNC code to engineering models to insure accuracy
  • Write, store, and modify original and/or existing CNC programs to enhance efficiency
  • Coordinate with other functional areas as needed to implement and change CNC programs
  • Provide progress, status, and troubleshooting reports to management
  • May occasionally perform special projects
