Job Description

Desktop Engineer needed onsite in Jefferson City MO

Desktop Engineer specializes in troubleshooting technical issues for computer
users. These issues could be either hardware or software related, and it's
the Desktop Engineer's job to diagnose where the problem is and implement a
solution for the user. They also spend a fair amount of time communicating with
users.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for completion and oversight of all desktop support tickets,
    issues, work orders and projects assigned to the Desktop Team; ensures these
    tickets are closed in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the
    Desktop Imaging process.
  • Responsible for some management and deployment of Active Directory services.
  • Responsible for desktop inventory management.
  • Assembles and configures PC components and associated services.
  • Sets up and maintains basic PC/laptop operations, including assembly of some
    network hardware and provides assistance to other IT disciplines within the
    department.
  • Performs PC and phone troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common desktop
    problems.
  • Upgrades PC/laptop components as required.
  • Installs, upgrades and configures network printing, directory structures,
    rights, security, software and files services.
  • Provides users with PC desktop technical support.
  • Responds to needs and questions of users concerning their access of PC
    resources.
  • Installs or assists service personnel in installation of hardware and
    peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives on
    user’s premises.
  • Instructs users in use of equipment, software and manuals.
  • Recommends or performs minor remedial actions to correct problems.
  • Coordinates activities with help desk, network services, or other
    information systems disciplines.
  • Provides updates, status and completion information to manager, problem
    request tracking system and/or users, via voice mail, e-mail or in person
    communications.
  • Replaces defective or inadequate software packages.
  • Refers major hardware problems to senior staff or vendor service personnel
    for correction.
