Naik Consulting Group, PC is seeking a CAD Designer/Technician with an emphasis in Civil/Highway/Structures/Utility Design Experience.

The primary duties of the CAD Designer/Technician, with occasional assistance from design engineers, is to produce drawings, layouts, details, sketches, site plans, and graphic representations of engineering designs using computer-aided design and drafting software on a variety of projects, which will include exposure to projects involving roadway, structural, railroad and utility design consideration.

Prepares reports, memos, and correspondence, maintains office records of drawings, plans, maps, surveys and inspection data, extracts data from various sources, e.g., manuals, standard reference guides, field notes, reports, etc., and applies welldefined methods and principles to such resolve  problems.

The position requires that the candidate has a dual expertise in the use of the latest versions of Microstation V8i including InRoads, and AutoCAD, AutoTurn, Civil 3D and Autodesk Revit.

Requires ability to interpret construction documents and apply technical knowledge in interpreting the best solution for plan presentation. Will perform routine and complex CAD assignments requiring application of standardized drawing techniques and may perform geometry, reinforcing steel list, shop drawings, and estimated quantity computations.

The ability to produce plans for various disciplines is an important ability for the successful candidate. We are looking for a well-rounded individual with an expertise in all disciplines.  The need to be capable of crossing discipline lines is paramount to completing job assignments.


At minimum,an Associate Degree or technical school degree would be preferred. Specific education involving structures or structural detailing experience would be desirable as an added asset.

Five (5) plus years of experience in Transportation related CAD work with knowledge of various agencies standards or requirements.

Prior Engineering CAD related project experience strongly desired.

Direct experience with NJDOT, NJTP, PANYNJ and other Tri-State agencies is expected. Demonstration of knowledge of CAD standards and differences between the agencies is critical for the successful applicant. Demonstrated experience using other software such as Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, InRoads and/or Geopak and Civil 3D is highly desirable.

The ability to work independently to formulate a representation of the design and to communicate efforts to a design team is paramount to the successful candidate.

The position requires a proficient working knowledge of CAD along with the ability to comprehend construction documents, and a robust technical knowledge. Excellent oral and written communication and documentation skills are essential. The ability to be a team leader and to facilitate projects independently.
